Z-Wave IR Emitters?

I would like to add control of devices like my TV to my system, but I'm having a heck of a time finding a Z-Wave friendly IR emitter?  Is there really no such thing?

I've seen the USBUIRT, but it seem inconvenient needing a USB port everywhere I want to send IR signals.

I've heard of people using cat5 USB extenders to use USB-UIRT in locations without a PC.  I think Convergent Home Technologies has used these, iirc.  No experience with them myself though.

Use a GC-100, that's what it's made for, fellas.

an IRTrans Ethernet version is also supported.

Thanks for letting me know about the GC-100.  I hadn't seen that before.

Is there a way to use that without running wires all over my house to a ton of IR blasters?

Put a GC-100 near where you need the IR to be. Run ethernet back to the main switch. Done.

What is so complex, that you are having to worry about running things all over the house?

Referencing another thread, you also may want to rethink your selection of Core/Hybrid, if you're overly concerned about controlling lots of devices.

Also a Ocelot from Applied Digital with a SECU16IR module would work.

Unfortunaly these are not plug and play, but they should be able to get working with GSD.

I use a usbuirt on my core in a closet and relay the ir signal (standard 3.5mm stereo jack) over ethernet to my device in the living room.

These uses dedicated runs of CAT5 (ie not the same CAT5 run patched into your network switch for your in-room IP connection) to extend the distance between the USBUIRT or MCE Receiver and the device being controlled. They work very well in that sense - but they do required dedicated runs of CAT5.

Of course Keene make other products that do not require a dedicated run of CAT5 and just sit on your LAN like any other network device - but these are more expensive of course.
