Hi I am new to this forum and new to Ubuntu and LinuxMCE.
I have a new PC with the following:
Asus P5E3 PRO motherboard, Q8300 Intel quad core, GeForce 9800 GT video, WD 500 GB sata HD, ethernet pci card and onboard ethernet, Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-HD-S2.
I made a clean install from the DVD using the DVD installation notes. The initial install completed and I rebooted the system. The splash screen appears and the progress bar halts just before completion. There are no beeps and I get the following display on tty1:
kinit: no resume image, doing normal boot...
I can login to Ubuntu using tty2,3 and 4. and can start the graphics with startx. The display resolution is 640*480: tty5 displays a blank screen.
When i boot without the quiet and splash options, tty1 displays
LOG: == End NVidia driver installation. I had already installed the nvidia-glx-195 which is the prefered driver. One other observation the screen blanks and then redisplays the output.
My LCD monitor is connected via VGA.
