Hello,

I had a working setup of LinuxMCE 8.10 (core+MD Hybrid). I had spend a lot of time to setup users, rooms, phones, Mythtv, audio, pictures, shares HD, etc... And I have done a backup of this install (webadmin-Advanced-Backup)

Then I powered up another computer, setted up the bios to boot on PXE, to use it as an additional MD.

The core asked me for a new "Data Grid...", I sayed yes, use it.
Now the core/hybrid is stuck on a gray screen with graphic mouse cursor. The UI does never show up anymore.
Even rebooting did not fix the issue.

I have launched Launch_Manager, and I get an error. After looking on the internet, it seems that the main MD (hte hybrid) may have disapear...
In addition, apache doesn't seems to be running anymore.
Doing a sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart show an error message (unable to bind on 0.0.0.0)
So I can not access from the configuration website anymore.

Do you have an idea on how to fix this ?

Or maybee how to quickly reinstall only the LinuxMCE part (not Kubuntu) and resotre the backup ?
How to do this ?

Thanks for your help...
Bernard

The apache error makes me wonder if you maybe have accidentally lost your IP Address.
What does ifconfig show?
What error do you get in the LMCE Launch Manager?

Hello,

Thanks you for your reply. I am at work, and  not in from of my LinuxMCE computer... But the test I have done this morning have shown:

The network config is still OK. Ifconfig shows the 2 networks (I am use a single NIC) eth0 192.168.0.2 and eth0:1 192.168.80.1
I can ssh to this core from another computer, I can ping it, but can not browse it with http://192.168.80.1.

Concerning the error of Launch Manager, I don't remember exactly the wording but it failed with something like "failed to generate orbiter". I can check the exact message tonight.

Hello again,
I have run LMCE_Launche_Manager again, and I get the following message:

Running UpdateAvailableSerialPorts.sh
Skin Generation completed, server says: Failed to get Orbiter Status
Failed to regenerate skin for Orbiter!!

Here is the message I get when I try to restart apache2 (that is not currently runnning):

dcerouter_1005193:~# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
 * Restarting web server apache2                                                                                                                                                                              apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 192.168.80.1 for ServerName
apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 192.168.80.1 for ServerName
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:8080
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

The orbiter/MD may have been deleted when the other PXE MD was unsuccessfuly installed; but I have no web admin access to recreate it, and I don't know how to recreate it from the command line...

To be honest, I don't know what to do know... I am wondering if I should go back to a regular Ubuntu + asterisk + mythtv install, without LinuxMCE... It is very sad because for what I have seen from LinuxMCE... I love it, and it exactly filfull my needs, but so far it was on the paper only.
I can not afford to reinstall the all LinuxMCE every couple of weeks....

Any help will be very much appreciated!

By the way, thanks to all the effort the development team has put together to make LinuxMCE append. It is very nice, with wonderfull features... maybee a little bit too much of auto confirguration, not easy to understand and correct when something goes wrong...

Just an update...
I have now apache working again... I have to comment the following line in /etc/apache2/ports.conf
   listen 8080

Do you think this can be an issue for LinuxMCE to work ?
