TV and Projector from one MD
« on: December 01, 2009, 05:28:46 pm »
Hi all, I am an LMCE noob, just setting up, and i have a question about how i might be able to have my TV and projector hooked up to the same MD and wondered if anyone knew how to solve it? My CRT TV is connected via svideo and Projector is connected via VGA from the nvidia graphics card in the MD. Is there any way of either fast switching between the outputs so i get SD on the TV and HD on the projector? Or should i clone the output of one to the other?

Or do i need an MD for each device? which would suck a bit.. but not impossible!

Hi,

The way we'd approach this is to take the output of the MD into 1-2 combiner and then either use rs232 to control the output of the combiner (if the projector has input sensing and will power on/off when an input goes live or off then that will make it possible to use the TV most of the time and the projector for movies for example) or if the projector has rs232 you could power it on/off and then have a device template switch between the two display devices etc.

All the best

Andrew, thanks for the reply, I hadn't considered using some sort of switching device, any recommendations on what brand or supplier you use?

We use components that are not available outside a Dianemo/Cascade system. However there are numerous alternative products that do the exactly the same job just as well - CWP springs to mind ;-)
