How to connect LCD TV or audio receiver/amplifier to Pluto ?

Hi,

I've purchased Marantz sr5600 audio/video receiver/amplifier and have ton of questions about how to connect it to Pluto.

I get the basic idea - adding new template with GSD codes for each command. But don't know how to :
- use radio tuner and put proper entries on Orbiter media menu (station numbers, other controls) ?
- I'd like to listen to Radio and also use it as amplifier for MD below it. Any more info on how to connect it and properly set it up  ?
- are Internal Radio and internal tuner templates meant for such situations ?
- is baud rate standard for rs232 interfaces ?
- Marantz has multiroom  feature ( that means briefly two independent amplifiers, each with it's own possible input). How to add this feature properly to Pluto (1 idea is to make two gsd devices, but not sure if they can connect to same serial port?, other idea is beyond my knowledge, how to create 2 'virtual devices' and control 2 audio zones through one gsd device) ?

if anyone else is using rs232 and audio receiver or plasma or LCD tv with Pluto please take few moments and describe setup process and experieneces (what is missing, what is working ok, etc...)...

If this device has some Linux-based front-end you can add it into pluto-admin > media directors > Edit Computing Applications.
I'm affraid that it's impossible to add new buttons for GDS device (maybe I'm wrong). Even Pluto supports device, Squeezebox for example, it doesn't allow to control radio via Orbiter. It's possible to control playing of MP3 only. So, I'm not sure that it'll be easy to add all features  of Marantz into Pluto.

ok, I decided to start working on this matter.

I took a peek at Yamaha rxv1500 and some other rs232 templates and created new Marantz SR 5600 template. Added command groups I think will be needed...

I have added new Entertainment area in Utility (where my hybrid resides) and don't know what to specifiy:
Audio System, Audio Zone, non-pluto, etc....

1. What is the difference between them ? What will happen if I specify Pluto Media Director ? Will scenarios properly appear on Orbiter ?...


Then I tried to add Ruby codes for commands. I went to Wizard-Devices-Generic serial devices.

Took a peek at other devices and then tried to do new one. But there are
Uses Group/Codeset  and bunch of Pronto codes.

2. What should I do there ? Should I specify some Marantz standard codes there ?

3. There seems a lot of commands on some devices that are not part of for instance "Standard Receiver commands" and they can be added command by command manually (in template one can only specify command groups) - but isn't the proper way to create them in template ? if I add them manually on "GSD devices" page, will they get into template ?

I'll post my procedure to wiki, but have to succeed in it first...

I'd kindly ask for some guidance, cause there is no example or docs on how to do it ...
