Hey. I'm going to be setting up a Media center in my bedroom, but I've come to the conclusion that I won't be needing LinuxMCE yet, as I just don't need all it's features.
HOWEVER. I want to be able to change to LinuxMCE in the future, when I do need all of it's features, and I can actually implement them. ASo I'm going to build it so that the ransition will be as smooth as possible wheen I do change from Vista to LinuxMCE, ie, all supported Hardware.

Can someone look at the planned hardware, and say whether it will run LinuxMCE well as a hybrid?

So:

500GB HDD
DVD Drive
2GB DDR2 RAM
Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD 500 Dual digital DVB-T PCI TV Tuner card (Is this the same as the Nova-T 500?)
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1

And perhaps using an old Eyetoy (Namtai version) as a Camera.

What do you think? obviously I'll also put in a second NIC, but I don't need one yet.

Thanks in advance, and again respect to the developers.

Also, one more question (you're getting bored of these now), but could I have a set up where I could have computers in the house that are windows? I'll show an example:

INTERNET -> Modem/router -> LMCE Core - > Another Router -> Cool stuff
                                      ->Gaming Computer, etc.

Like that?

LinuxMCE works best, if you hook the modem directly into the core, and plug a switch into the second NIC, and use LMCE to route and manage all devices.

ok. So LMCE effectively acts as a router. will this impact internet speeds at all?

golgoj4

Not in my experience. Your internet speeds will be fine.
Linuxmce - Where everyone is never wrong, but we are always behind xbmc in the media / ui department.

Che

okay, so that's that sorted then. What about my hatrdware? will that work with the future upgrade?
