Andrew / totallymaxed..what do you make of this ?

I think the atom needs to get up to 2GHz to work really well at 1080P
IMHO
As I have said in other threads here the Ion is a very exciting new compact low energy platform. In the near future when coupled with the vdpau API and updated xine lib and supporting media playback code the Ion will provide a perfect combination of performance/low-power/size/price.
1080p... is a vague reference to be frank. The performance you get will depend on what format the content you are attempting to play was encoded in. So a DVD played back at 1080p is mpeg2 encoded upscaled to 1080p... well even the current ATOM based MD's will cope with this reasonably well. But its h.264 encoded content played back at 1080p that will benefit most from the Ion hardware - and the 9400 and vdpau is what does most of the work for this.
All the best
Andrew
