sound problems on MD
« on: April 30, 2008, 12:14:33 am »

so.. to start with the video caused the MD to become unstable after a few minutes!
so I installed a Nvidia GeForce 7300GS 512MB PCIe card allowing use of ui2 hassle free :)
but there was no sound?
as I wanted to use it now (and sort out further problems later) I grabbed a usb soundcard (based on the C-Media CM106-F with optical SPD/IF out) and as if by magic.. there was sound :)
however my joy was short lived!
intermittently the sound will disapear for a fraction of a second.. then continue maybe for another 30 seconds to a minute then it will drop out again!
most annoying!
anyone have any thoughts?
cheers
Gazzzman
PS I am (pretty) sure the internal sound worked OK in beta4 I couldn't swear to it though lol!

Hi,

Same problem for me on a asus p5k with an onboard digital sound card with spdif which i use, on beta 4 0710 all worked just fine with the rc1 i see that my receiver gets digital sound ( blue light on receiver when digital sound, ) but nno sound at all, pcm 48khz is working, so just with some mp3 or tv sound it works just fine but no digital sound, not on core not on the diskless md that i have.

Please HELP

Dave

Hi all
sorry to bump up this old thread, but I'm facing a similar issue (audio stopping for a fraction of second, then going on for some 30 sec, then disappearing again and so on ...) with one of my MDs although on different hardware and I was wandering whether a solution has been found.

TIA
Marco
