FTA SAT, Linuxmce and the US

I am think about installing a FTA sat system in my house and use it with VDR and LinuxMCE. I am sure someone has done this and if you could share your experience (pros and cons) I would be grateful. My alternative is wait for the HD PVR usb box from Hauppauge to by fully supported in Myth and try this that way, but I would like avoid the extra boxes. Using a DVB-S card is really appealing.
