core/hybrid hanging on ctrl-alt-fx keys - can't get back to ui

I use "putty" to ssh from my work laptop (MS Windows OS) into my core, when I'm at home and need todo updates and maintenance.

Likewise, I use ssh from fedora 16 box (our home workstation). From my work laptop I use openssh from within Cygwin. Cygwin is brilliant- a set of unix tools for windows... if you are used to unix command line tools, try it.
