All in one PC can it work?

Im trying to plan out hardware requirements for a new build once 0710 comes out,  this will be my first LMCE install so the terminology is still new to me.  What I would like to do is put a core in my media room where my dish network receiver is along with my 8' projection TV.  I wanted to put another station in my kitchen on an island.  My wife likes to watch tv while she is cooking and such and she loves the idea of having the show she is watching follow her from room to room.  Since there is limited counter space I thought an All-in-1  pc would be great.  Most of the time it would just be turned on and watch whatever is being streamed to it,
 I found this combo that looks like what I would want, but would it work?  Heres the unit.  http://www.tangent.com/t_all_in_one_LCDPC/widescreen22.htm  I found a couple of others as well but was wondering if anyone had done one of these or could recommend something.

Also I cant seem to find what capture card that will work with Dish Network receivers,  could someone point me to the right one?

Hello Dave,

the terminology can be daunting at first, but will get better.

I would advise against using an all-in-one pc, but get a decent flat panel display, plus something like Fiire 1" station, which can be bolted directly to the back of the display. You will be more flexibel and, if you go the Fiire route, you have a company guaranteeing LMCE compatibility.

PS: I am sure, there are other companies supplying bolt-on PCs for the VESA connector of the flat panel displays.

From personal experience, I would NOT go with a Fiire 1".

I have one.  It locks up SOLID regularly, can't use MythTV on it..

I wish I knew about the myth problem before I bought them (I bought a 1" and a 2.2")

They run Debian, not Kubuntu. (That's how they get the UI/2 working, which really, only half works)

The Menus are SOLID, (on an NVidia setup, their faded)

My thoughts, not yours...

The 2.2" doesn't lock up near as much, but already, it's got a bad fan, and I can't get SPDIF working on it

REALLY? I must say that that sucks, especially with a comp that is more or less built for LMCE. Thank you! I've been planning to buy a couple...

Yeah, I would NEVER buy another one.

The Fiire Engine, although being way overpriced, does work well.

The Fiire Chiefs are WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD.

Hello Dan,

interesting to hear your experience about the Fiire 1" boxes. Did they ever respond to your problems? From the look of the PC it is a great way, if you don't want an optical drive near your TV (like in the kitchen). But, if something does not work like it is suppose to work from a commercial company, I might get a bit unfriendly with that company.

Apart from Fiire, I stand by the notion, that not using a All-In-One machine is my preference.

I've found them to be not very helpful as I'm not in the USA.  That hurts.

They STILL haven't sent me an invoice...

I have also found that ddamron. I am alo not in the USA and they have never replied to numerous messages I have sent enquiring about purchasing from outside the USA I finally gave up on them.

Kinda glad I did now hearing your less than great experience with them.
