FM radio cards
« on: January 01, 2008, 02:54:50 am »
So i have this hauppage wintv pvr mce-500. Tuner works great. Plug and play. But i listen to a lot of over the air radio too.

Long story short, I have tried everything I know (which aint much) and the fm function appears to work but there is no sound. i've tried various things like Radio, Gnomeradio fm-tools. all with the same result. No sound. And there is no sound output jack on the hauppage card so i cant loop it back to the input on the board sound card. Any suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. My end goal is to eventually use this as a scenario in lmce. so I can listen to radio without tying up my receiver, and hopefully use it in a multi room setup.

card - hauppage wintv pvr mce-500
board - asus m2npv-vm mobo
im running lmce 0704

help!

Hi,

I would also like to get FM radio working on the pvr-500. I also have the Nova 500 dual tuner that should be able to pick up DVB radio.

Does anyone know if this is planned or if it can be done simply?

Prepared to be a test subject if anyone has any ideas?

I'm not sure about whats needed to get the PVR-500 receiving FM... looks like it may well be a firmware/driver issue.

However I can confrim that under vdr all of the Radio channels are already working fine and that is independent of the DVB card you choose to use. If your DVB card is working (we use T500's and also Avermedia 771's) then you will get all the available DVB' based digital radio channels available from the MUX's on your tuned transmitter :-)

Thanks for the reply, but im here in the US and wont be using dvb. Maybe I should install it just for fm tuning?

have you tried to get it working yet? Mine seems to work except for the fact there is no audio output. I think it has to do with the sound not leaving the fm card because I dont have the proper switch enabled.

Or something like that.

But i've gotten the programs to 'work' for the most part, which is why this is so frustrating.
Anyone know why an audio signal from an internal pci card wouldnt go to the sound card for output? How does myth do it?

came across this earlier today after I was able to get audio out of my card
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Fm_radio#What_is_required

basically, I need to reset my sound card... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=601522

Solution was not to install the package they mentioned, but to run this command :asoundconf reset-default-card

and i used the ivtv-radio driver(?). Anyways, now to add it to myth...

and its been added. and works. now to try it on a md...

Well DVB transmissions are not available in the US so that would not work for you. Here in Europe DVB is everywhere and TV/Radio is broadcast digitally on the same MUX's (no FM receiver is use at all)

Andrew,

are you going to split the TV and radio part of the VDR channels, or are both available as TV?
