Hi,
Im Trying to install the Linux MCE from the 3 CD's i downloaded. I install Kubuntu with no trouble!
I then proceed, to enable the root user, log in at that en then resume the install by running the desktop shortcut that was created. It then comes to a point where it asks me for the live CD of kubuntu. Is this really needed? It is not part of the download section, ISOs. I am really eager to trey this, so what can i do to make this install working without the LIVE cd.
I have the normal Kubuntu feisty install cd and the 2 Linux MCE cds

Then another question:
It asks me to install the nvidia drivers, then after the reboot im running at 640 x 480. Ive got the 6800GT
MOBO: Asus A8V Deluxe
CPU   :AMD 64 Athalon 3500
RAM   : 1.5 GB Ram
GPU   : Nvidia 6600GT

This setup works like a charm! Maybe just a little more ram ;-)

Yes, the live CD or an iso is necessary
And yes, the display sometimes goes to 640x480 (I've had it happen).
No need to worry though, as you install LMCE all resolutions that will work with your card are available to you .

Ok cool!
Thanks.
Now to Clarify.... Is there a difference in the Feisty Alternate install and the LIve CD?
Cause on the download pages I only have access to the Alternate install, and cannot see the LIve CD like the one that comes with the normal Ubuntu CDs.

Can you perhaps give me a download link for the i386 Kubuntu live cd?
Will I have to reinstall the Alternate version? Reason I ask is I have loaded about 100GB of media to the box that will become the media server.
Thanks in advance!

Perhaps they are not in the mirror you selected, but they are here
http://klid.dk/ftp/ubuntu-cd/kubuntu/feisty/
atleast.

I opened that one, and it is the same as the mirror i have used.
I have downloaded the the alternate i386 iso, but when it asks for the location of the cd or iso, it does some stuff for 5 minutes, then comes back with with the error that it cannot cache the live cd.
So my thoughts are that i've been using the wrong iso for the install.
There is not an iso called live cd as such, so perhaps I have been using the wrong iso?
I did the kubuntu install from kubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso
Is this correct?
for good measures i am downloading kubuntu-7.04-Desktop-i38.iso, and hoping that will work better. It is a bit of an expensive download seeing as in South Africa we only get 3GB a month on ADSL :-(
