TV Tuner M150-D MCE edition installation issues
« on: August 17, 2005, 04:23:58 pm »
I have tried for the last 4 hours to install my Avermedia M150-d Mpeg2 tuner card in pluto. I have installed the cx88 firmware as well as set the card type in pluto-admin web-page(Generic Blackbird) but I am still unable to use it with myth.
Is there anyone else on the forum that has successfully set this up as a tv tuner?
If driver/setup support is not available for this card can anybody reccomend a good hdtv(DVB-t) card that will definately work with pluto as I was looking at changing to digital later on anyway and may move this forward a bit if I can't resolve this.

Thanks,

Our support guys are in from 7am-4pm GMT (UTC).  If you can do a live chat  then and are willing to turn on remote assistance so we can take a peek, we can transfer you to someone who is good with those drivers and can figure out why it's not working.  It should be a matter of just choosing the PVR card from the m/d page, and adding the firmware.

Thank you, you guys are very helpful,

Unfortunately I am not that great with Linux(Windows Admin) so I am not sure if the card even has the driver installed correctly for this card, maybe it is a different variant of the 'blackbird design'. I am more than happy to let you guys take a look at it sometime when you are free and even provide you with details of all chips and markings on this card if necessary.

Q. What ports do I need open and forward to pluto for remote assistance?

This is more just a test machine to see what I can do with pluto so I can decide whether to put more money into hardware etc and how to lay it out so don't put yourselves out if you are too busy.

If getting this card to work proves too difficult to get working I will look at getting another one that will work.

I did follow your documentation in 'Setting up Myth TV' which told me to install the firmware and also how to set the driver on the pluto-admin webpage + how to setup the cx88 within myth although when I change to video1 I can't select any inputs, which would seem that it doesn't recognize my card.

Thanks again,
Andrew Armstrong

You don't need to forward any ports.  In PlutoAdmin just choose Wizard, Security, Outside Access, check the box to allow assistance, pick a password, confirm it, click update.  Your system makes an outgoing connection to ours--no incoming ports are needed.
