Hello.

I am seeing issues with my GC-100-12 (yes, I've emailed support) but want to find out if it's a generic issue or just my device.

I have noticed a number of issues with browers (probably due to the cgi code).

Linux - Firefox, Opera - Connection error on using apply.  Doesn't update/apply the settings.

Konqueror web browser works fine.

No ping response with Linux either.

Windows XP does get ping responses.

Firefox also fails to apply/update on XP.

Internet explorer works fine.

Anyone else have these devices that can shed some light ?

GCSupport

Thank you for contacting Global Caché Technical Support Martin.

The issue with Firefox/Opera, and most Mozilla engine based browsers, is a known issue. Mozilla recently changed the way they handle form data and as a consequence broke the web pages on those browsers.  This issue has been fixed in revision 3.0 of the firmware.

The Linux ping is a different size than Windows (Windows is 32 bytes). If you change the Linux ping size to 32 bytes, the GC-100 should respond to the ping.

I had some issues with my GC100-06, luckily nite-man (iirc) pointed me to a workaround, which I added to the wiki: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Gc100#Known_Problems.  Apart from that I didn't ran into browser problems, but I did notice the ping not responding.

Anyway I need to set it up properly again soon and I was wondering: can the firmware be upgraded, if so, where to obtain and how to apply it.  This does not seem to be adressen in the FAQ or anywhere else I looked.

OK - It's been a few days and GC haven't updated/edited their message with the additional information they sent to me.  I suugested that they should.

Basically...but you should check yourselves by emailing support  yourselves.

"If you would like an RMA # for the upgrade, please forward complete contact
information including where to return the unit to and your telephone number.

Yes, the upgrade is free."

This upgrade fixes the browser issue but the ping issue remains.  I suggested they fix this as well.
