OK, the first thing I need clarification on is; what is disc 1 and what is disc 2? I have two CD's, one labeled packages and one labeled cache. During the install it does not reference these by name, just disc 1 and disc 2. Mirrors; all mirrors point to ubuntu, is this going to be a problem if I am running kubuntu. Also, online documentation says go ahead and update packages after install is complete but during the install a screen says do not update packages, you will be notified when to update. Very confusing, for me at least. Any clarification on this would be helpful.

With Beta2, the first CD it asks for is the ''cache'' CD, the second one is the ''packages'' CD if I recall correctly.  Either way it should reject the "wrong" one so you got 50% chance of getting it right the first time, and a 100% chance of getting it right the second attempt. ;)

The first CD is the Linuxmce Packages CD. The second is the Cache CD. Then it wants the Kubuntu Live CD/DVD third. I think at least....that's how i did it. I used ISOs for the Linuxmce CDs and then the installer cached the Kubuntu DVD for me.

Do I really need 3 cds? Seems a bit excessive. If the network works properly I shouldn't need the cache CD though?

Probably you're right. But without all three disks the installation is failed. I used ISOs from my HDD and it worked fine.
