Disable Asterisk's PBX features
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:49:07 pm »
I love being able to have incoming calls trigger events--stopping music, etc.--and responding to my set status--Away, Home, etc. I am not a fan, however, of people calling in and having to select a user to call. It's been creating a lot of confusion and I just don't think it's practical for me. I've been searching for a way to disable the user selection and have Asterisk only ring one user's voicemail and all the extensions.

Is this possible?

Thanks for your thoughts!

of course is this possible....check out the webadmin- >telecom> call routing for one
for the second check out the line setup in webadmin, where you can select the call routing for different standard scenarios, like sending a pesky incoming call directly to the voicemailbox while entertainment is active
its all described in the wiki by the way.

cheers, Mario

Hi,

I've also had similar thoughts and I always set up telephony in my way:

 - I create one "dummy" user called HousePhone and then set all routing magic on that user. Also, when you leave home, you just set HousePhone user to "Away" mode instead of changing mode of all users...

HTH,

Bulek.
Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

Bulek,

managing the routing on the phone line instead of the user works as well. Maybe the web admin should have a destination global mailbox.

Thanks to everybody to their advice. The settings from the wiki above are exactly what I need. I'm still having some difficulty, however.

When I dial my landline from the outside (through a Sipura 3000), I get a dial tone. I can then dial an extension and it works but there is no recording. It does not matter which house mode I'm in--this happened after I changed some items on the phone lines' setting page. It's like FreePBX doesn't integrate at all into LinuxMCE anymore.

I also have an issue where no matter what I dial going out my landline always dials its own number on the phone companies' line. I followed the Sipura3000 wiki and am really stumped on this one.

Did I mess something up? I've tried to re-add my phone line to reset any settings in FreePBX but it remains unchanged.

Again, thanks for your thoughts.

0810 still. I have two MDs and the phone line hooked through the Sipura and neither ring or are able to dial out. I can make internal calls, though.

There is a reason why we have moved away from FreePBX in 1004... ;) - The minute you start playing with FreePBX all bets are off, as to what will still work.

Is there any way to reset Asterisk to its original settings?
I say Asterisk and not FreePBX because when I change the default incoming behavior in FreePBX to ring the landlines, I still get the dial tone.

What settings connect Asterisk to FreePBX?
