So I am still new to Linux world, so if I have missed something simple feel free to point it out..

I download the LinuxMCE 8.10 iso burned it a DVD and booted up on the machine I hope to turn into my MCE core. The "Kubuntu" menu Screen come up and I selected my Language, in my case English.

I then choose the "LinuxMCE"

The system then begins to work away, until a window like screen pops up asking me to select my language, but the keyboard nor the mouse work, all I can do is reset my system.

The keyboard works fine on that first screen, I checked my cd for defects and tested my memory, both of which are fine.

Windows is currently installed in the machine I hope to convert
Its an AMD 1.8 mgz machine with a gig of ram on  a Gigabyte KBV800M board
The keyboard and mouse work in the windows environment.

Also when I try the option of trying Kubuntu without any changes to my system, Kubuntu never loads, I think I get to the main screen (not familiar with Kubuntu) but no option load, just a decorative backsplah.

Any Ideas?
Chris

How old is your pc?
How is your mouse and keyboard conncected? Wireless? If so, is it bluetooth?

Hart

None of the equipment is new,

The board is 3 years old
The usb mouse 2 years old
The ps2 keyboard 7 years old

They both work in fine in a windows environment

Thanks
Chris

Before you try that, with the USB keyboard/mouse, get your computer to the point where it stops working, try disconnecting the keyboard/mouse, and then reconnecting, but whilst you are reconnecting, press some keys/move the mouse, see if you get any response. It might only be for literally a second when you first plug it in, which is why I am suggesting pressing keys/move the mouse as you do it.

Or try 1004 :) I am a recent convert.

Cheers,
Matt.
