[SOLVEDish] Halts after avwiz, before sarah - x launced with black screen w/

Im starting to set up a house core, this is my first Linuxmce install(tried many times the last years, but HW has been shaky at best ). I complete Kubuntu install from cd, then i follow the wiki net install:

It flows thru install and AVWizard, then launces X with black screen. And installing stuff, and outputs big white tekst onscreen. And after a good while, tekst stops, and a green progressbar at the bottom is at 98%, then dissapears, then reapears, and dissapears.. and so on.... It does not flikker, but stays on for some seconds, then is away for 10-20 sec. The pointer changes from pure white, to black w/ white borders, but when the progress bar no longer apears, it stays white.

last msg on tty1 is :

Orbiter Generation Start
Orbiter Generation Done

Consol 8 last msg:

Starting LinuxMCE Launch Manager ... ok

Tried to install a few days ago to, so not sure if it is different snapshots, as seemed to be the problem here:

Try the following snapshot

I installed it succesfully.

Same problem here.

I ran through the AV-wizzard okay, but no lady (apparently Sarah) asking me questions about the home setup.
In the meantime I opened up ssh port 22
(on a Root prompt using the command:
/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -d 0/0 -s 0/0 --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
)

This enabled me to run an X-forwarded browser to access
http: // localhost/lmce-admin
to add some users and enable administration from the external (home)-network.

But no Sarah.

Is there any description of the installation process, to tell me what to tweak to get "her" running from the CLI without re-installing from dvd?

(e.g. an extra command in or from  firstboot /etc/rc5.d/S90firstboot ?: Which one?)

Tried DVD snapshots 8.10.24255 and 8.10.24189, but they did not do it for me But will try 24346 this evening, or tomorrow. Thx for the tip

which snapshot, which version of linuxmce?

hmm, got the 24255 going now. refused to boot up properly the first time, but now "Sarah" seems finished, and im waiting for som background task to finish, so i can press "Start using the system"

Well whattaya know! now it seems to work, not sure what was wrong. But the dvd got installed properly on my second try yesterday. Netinstall failed on same point all tries this weekend.

Well well, it works, but i dunno why.... Marked as Solvedish
