Win Orbiter cannot start
« on: March 10, 2005, 11:53:29 am »
Hi,

I'm unsuccesfully trying to start Win32 Orbiter 2.0.0.0. I run command line Orbiter.exe -r 192.168.0.3 -d 6646 > log.txt

and get in DCErouter log:
01   03/10/05 11:45:37.386      Upon connection, the socket received an invalid response (socket 171).  Terminating.
05   03/10/05 11:45:37.386      Router: Don't know how to handle CORRUPT SOCKET.

and this in log.txt:

The win orbiter should work -- we use it all the time.  However, 2.0.0.0 won't work.  The version of Orbiter needs to match the version of DCERouter.  That could be the problem.  There was a change to the message protocol around 2.0.0.8, and using a device that's older with a router that's newer can cause problems.  However, from looking at the logs I guess it's something else.  I'm sending a bug report to another (Chris) to have him look into that for you and respond to this thread.

Is there a installer available for 2.0.0.11? The only installer I can find is for 2.0.0.0

Can you also have a look at the link for the winnetdll download as it is broken.

I've managed to get Orbiter started. I've used installer 2.0.0.0 and then overwrite existing exe with 2.0.0.11 exe and added few libraries. I can send zip (3 megs) to private email or post somewhere if anyone is interested.

Rob.

Hi everybody,

A new package will be available at the end of this week, OrbiterInstallers. You will be able to go to this package page and download a zip file with OrbiterInstaller.msi which will contain the latest release version of Pluto Orbiter.

By the way, if you choose the installation wizard, and on step 1 or 2 say you want a windows system, the final step 8 you should have a link to PlutoHomeInstall.exe (http://plutohome.com/download/installers/windows/PlutoHomeInstaller.exe). Run this installer and you will be prompted to specify the device ID of the media director and then the application will download the list of packages to be install. Choose whatever packages we want and the installer will do everything for you.

Hi,

I guess I can add windows media director to existing installation. Is this new feature (I remember that it didn't work 10 days ago - selecting windows didn'tdo anything).

Should I wait till end of week for new release of Orbiter to try it out ?

What functionality is currently implemented in windows media directors ?

Regards,

Rob.

Hi Rob,

You should be able now to add a windows media director to you installation. If you download PlutoHomeInstaller, you can get right the latest version of Orbiter, debug version. Or, you can wait till end of week to download OrbiterInstaller.msi with the release version.

Windows media director doesn't have yet a Xine-Player or a Myth-TV.

I guess you already know this, but for mythtv there is directshow filter and even simple gui to play mythtv recordings:

http://winmyth.sourceforge.net/

What are your intentions with xine windows counterpart ? Any thoughts ? ...

Can mplayer jump in ? http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/

or maybe VLC (it has also great streaming capabilities on Linux side)?

Hi Rob,

Yes, we’ve analyzed what are the solutions for windows version. However, our first priority is to have a flawless Linux version, windows version will come next. Indeed, our options for a windows player are MPlayer and VLC and for a frontend to mythtv: winmyth.
We'll let you know when we'll start the work on these features. Thank you very much for your interest.
