Acer Aspire Revo 3610 Issues

Just purchased a new acer aspire revo 3610 (which came with ralink rt3900 wireless device).  My idea is to use it as a hybrid since I will only have 2 rooms.  The snapshot dated 16/DEC which I installed from did not detect the wireless card, luckily i had anticipated this probability and also installed a Linksys usb to be used for internet connection.
However after several attempts I am lost in trying to RIP/PLAY DVD Media.  I am stuck with "dvdcss" not available.  I have run this command
sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2 w32codecs id-my-disc without success.  I am using external USB dvd drive (Sony)
Any idea?
