I think this question is for hari... but will take an answer from anyone.

Can anyone tell me the limitations on zwave metadata? Google is not my friend on this issue. I think what I am needing to create is a zwave on/off contact strip which reports current draw to the system.
I never quit... I just ping out.

I'm not sure what you mean with metadata. There are proper command classes in the z-wave API to fetch power usage from devices that support that class (COMMAND_CLASS_METER). I've a http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Innovus_RAone_SmartPower and was able to fetch the values..

Wow... very nice.

It is my understanding that zwave has a metadata class... which is how sirius radio makes remotes that words are transmitted to... but I was wondering if I could use that data for other purposes. If I can send strings over zwave as metadata and interpret them (lol), it is a possible solution for many things. It was my understanding that the primary difficulty in utilizing it is some sort of limitation of that data. Everything I have read has been vague. Was just an idea, and thought you might have a fast answer.

This is the comment I put on WIKI:
"RAone SmartPower seams like a dead product, looks like Innovus company is no more and after a google search I can't find any store having it. Maybe we should delete this page?"

Now I see that you have this device Hari, then maybe better leave this WIKI page, but can you please put some more info on WIKI about this device and if it is maybe even available where can other buy it.
