Need final word on USB-UIRT in 810

Ok, sorry for my asking again. 

Can someone give me the final word on whether the USB-UIRT works in 810?  I feel like I am at the end of my rope.  Had all the hopes that 810 would be different.  But, alas, I still get the same result.  My USB-UIRT transceiver (Protocol Ver. 1.1, Firmware Ver. 5.9, Date: 3/26/04) refuses to have anything to do with my Sony projection TV or Sony receiver.  All I need to have it do is to turn off/on both units and change volume and inputs.  I can't get any of it to work.  I can, however; get the USB-UIRT to work great with a Windows program called EventGhost.  If I take the exact codes that work with EventGhost and sub them into Linuxmce, I get a brief flash from the unit, but the TV and amp do not respond.

What I can tell you is that I see a difference in the transmission pulse; it is longer with EventGhost -- it's about 2x as long as the pulse from LMCE.  Does this mean anything to anyone?

If I am beating a dead horse, please say so.  If there is another avenue to control my devices that don't have serial ports, please speak up.  I can get everything else working , but this piece.

Leo, I'm not using 8.10 so can't say whether there is an USB-UIRT issue with it or not.   With 7.10 I had to fiddle a little with my TV and Set Top Box in the set up wizard.   Are you aware that there is a facility in the wizard (presumably carried over into 8.10) where you can adjust the pulse duration?   There is also an item in the Wiki that shows how to send two pulses, I found this helpful also.   Regards, Bob

I can confirm that the USB-UIRT has worked for me from 710 all the way to the current 810 b2 with no issues. Must be something on your side, or the way you are configuring something.

The only problem I have in 8.10 is the USB-UIRT stops working once in a while.  Maybe once every couple months. Where did you get your codes from, did you learn them or find them online.  all of mine are about twice as long.

UIRT works ridiculously well for me.  Have you tried learning the codes instead of entering them manually?

Grrr!  I think I hate all those people who have not problems!!!

Since I am using distinct commands like Off and On instead of a power toggle, I grabbed the code from Remote-Central.com.  I know the codes work since I can transmit them from a Windows program. 

I have tried to learn codes, but they have not worked either.  I think I will try to learn the codes under 8.10 and see what happens.  When I was using a beta 7.10, I could easily turn off and on my TV.  I also had success with 7.10 in my bedroom with my Samsung flat screen, but I used a template that came stock.  Now that I think back, I believe I was able to learn remaining codes for my Samsung TV. 

I have also tried all the Pronto coded in 8.10 templates.  It has crossed my long time ago that Sony codes might just be different in some way, but I was able to originally control my TV so I am so confused. 

I am giving it one more try going the the learning route.  I'll post any success of failure.

Ok, the problem is definately my Sony TV and receiver, like I thought before but didn't want to believe it.

I know this because I can learn and use all my other non-Sony products.  I did actually successfully turn my TV on and off, plus several odds and ends trying all the included Pronto codes -- I can change to one input, but need one more.  I guess I will be able to plug away at it. 

My AMP is something different all together.  It's a 5000ES and has a 2-way remote.  I cannot do a thing using LMCE with it.  Perhap the folks at EventGhost can let me know what they do to get the Sony learned commands to work.

As jimbodude said, have you tried learning the codes?  IIRC on the left hand side of the screen (where the Pronto codes are shown) underneath the signal that you are trying to send (e.g. power on, 1, volume up, etc) you can click on a button that will open up a window which allows you to learn the code as you press the button on the remote.  For whatever reason, some of the buttons I pressed would only be learned when the remote was about 8-10" from the USB-UIRT and with other codes the remote had to be 1-2" away.  When the signal is read the red light blinks and on the open window a popup will say something like "signal learned".  From there you can easily test if the signal works. 

I too tried to find the codes for my cable box online not knowing how easy it was to learn from my remote.  I found that although the codes ended up being the same, the ones I found online had 2-4 prefixes that apparently caused the desired signal not to work with LMCE.
