Motherboard: Asus P5B-E plus with dual core 775 cpu
Video card: nvidia 8400gs with vga - dvi - hdmi
TV: Samsung LE32A456 HDReady

After connected the tv through straight hdmi cable I can access the AVWizard only with keys 3 and 4 (component - composite) and not via key 1 (dvi/hdmi).
Trying key 1 I get "no signal" on the tv, then I cannot select the proper resolution (720p or 1360x768?)
Trying key 3 (component) I can only choose 480p or 720p. 720p stays at 640x480.

I tried everything....
Thank you

First you need to upgrade the nVidia drivers to the latest version - go to the wiki and on the page Display Drivers there are simple instructions on how to do this.

Next, hit the '1' key so that you get 'no signal', then grab a copy of your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file, read through this log as it will tell you what is happening when the graphics chipset selects that output.

Finally, be aware that many Samsung TVs can be a bit funny about which HDMI input you should use. Sometimes one is marked differently to indicate this.

Thank you for your answer colinjones. I'm going to upgrade the drivers then I'll post the results.
(I'm using HDMI input #2 as samsung manual indicates for pc input...)

I upgraded to latest nvidia drivers and still cannot choose key 1.
But at least I'm able to choose 720p from key 3 and now runs at 1280x720.
Don't know if it's possible to have 1360x768.

Now I'm trying to adjust orbiter UI fonts. They exceed the rectangle area...

Hi,

One thing you might want to try is setting useEDID=true in your xorg.conf file.  This will allow you to run in "native resolution".

Cheers.
