orbiter twitching/flashing
« on: November 06, 2008, 05:06:15 pm »
Got my core unit set up and running 7.1 and MCE set up went smooth but I havent had a network connection yet to download any updates. One thing I have noticed is that when I run the orbiter it has a strobe effect (flashing/twitching) I can still see and access the menu options, but something is obviously wrong. I selected KDE desktop to minimize the orbiter, sometimes when I go back to it it works just fine, mostly it strobes. I am using an ATI video card which I would assume is the problem, however when I am in the MCE Launch mgr and run the UI diagnostic tool everything seems to run fine. Either way do you guys think it is my video card? should I just run the basic UI till i spring for a Nvidia card?
Thanks,
Krys

ATI cards do not support the composite extensions we need properly. So you will either need to:

(a) move back to UI2 masked instead of blended/composited
(b) move back to UI1.

Reboot the machine, when you hear the descending beeps, press shift. You will then hear a confirmation beep.

The AV Wizard will then start.
