Main Menu freeze

Hi Guys and Gals!

Im a newbie looking for help with my new core/hybrid.

I got passed the room setup and video setup but now when it loads the main menu it works for two seconds and then the whole thing freezes 

The keyboard is frozen and the mouse pointer moves but nothing opens. After a while of this the screen goes black with just a white arrow and a thin coloured bar up the left side.

Sorry if this has been posted before but I could not find it!

can you describe your hardware setup? What are you using?

Photo screen saver has been known to do this with the Intel 945 chipset... (so I'm told)

Try to change the graphical aspect to static image no overlay.
