Kubuntu 7.10 Auto Update

The installation instructions state that LinuxMCE will only work under Kubuntu 7.10, but later in these instructions is the statement:
"And, understand this may take a very long time since it will in parallel be updating your Kubuntu system to the latest version."
Does this mean K7.10 is updated to K8.04 (the latest version);  in which case LinuxMCE will no longer work, correct?
How can this be prevented?  TIA for any enlightenment!

Any version changes (updates) would occur in 7.10.

Upgrading to 8.04 would be handled through a new release of MCE.
