Free up diskspace - HOWTO?
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:18:02 am »
Hi forum,

I seem to have a problem here:
Running 7.10b4 with a single NIC.
Already previously experienced weird things with network shares. (It would be a good thing to have a tab with services in Pluto admin to be able to switch some of these functions on / off)
This shows as I have either shares unreacheable or I have e.g. videos turn up twice and more.
I think these are mainly due to my changes in my network, so I don't really blame LMCE.

Today however I start running out of diskspace.
As everything is in a database, I don't want to start just deleting stuff.
In /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log I get these:
Code: [Select]

Just yesterday I tried to delete quite some stuff via mythweb...

Today it seems that nothing gets deleted...
What can I do?
Is there any way to rebuild or check the database? I have no qlue...

Thanks for your advice!!

Okay, it seems after a couple of days, that autoexpiring does its job.

Problem seems to be, that somehow non-existing files seem to get created / registered.
I just found it the easiest way to look at the log via http://dcerouter/mythweb/backend_log
Also, it seems:
- In mythweb, recorded programs (this takes a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiile to load)
- There seem to be quite some recordings that do NOT have a screenshot
- Hovering over these recordings title, shows there file name (firefox, messageline at bottom)
Code: [Select]
myth://192.168.80.1:6543/file not found- Titles without screenshot show file not found

Question:
- In mythweb you seem to be able to change flag e.g. autoexpire yes/no -> but there doesn't seem to be a way / button to confirm your action??
- Is there any way (preferably within mythweb, as this would be easy) to have the myth-filename appear next to the title??
After all, how can you manually intervene and delete files if you don't know the link between TITLE and FILENAME?

Code: [Select]

How is it in hte above that some files are owned by root, group root???
As they are readonly it seems obvious that they may cause problems while auto expiring?

Thanks a lot!!

I don't know, but I can tell you how to fix those permissions, just run the following in that directory (or replace "." with a path to it):
Code: [Select]
chown root:public -R .
chmod g+w -R .
"Change is inevitable. Progress is optional."
