linksys media extenders
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:58:53 pm »
Hi, I am a newbie at linux mce and I was wondering if you can use the linksys media extender that is sold for MSMC with linux MCE. I am presently looking at all options for extending my core to all rooms in my house and would rather not pay $500 for each room. Any comments or suggestions??

No comment on the linksys ME, but you can build a MD for under $250.

The linksys  probably could use any media from the core using UPnP using its own interface but would not control LinuxMce in any way.

yes, avcontrol for upnp would be great. There is even some open source java code (http://www.cidero.com/).

I would donate  a D-LINK DSM520 to the brave heart implementing it.

best regards,
Hari
