Looking for some advice

Hello all,

I am pretty novice with Linux MCE. I have been doing a lot of reading but cant seem to find the answers i am looking for. I am currently considering these parts:

The system is being built mainly as a large audio server but also eventually to backup DVDs and video. I am not going to be running any TV signal to the MCE. My main purpose of this thread is to make sure these parts will work. Like i said i am new to Linux and I am very weary of purchasing parts if they wont work (obviously). If anyone would be kind enough to just let me know if I am headed in the right direction it would be a great help.

Also, I am looking for a very decent audio card to add to this. I have done a lot of searching on this but i am still unsure of what cards are compatible. I  would like optical and this will be going into a 7.1 surround sound system. If anyone can recommend a compatible motherboard with optical that would be even better. I did notice there are limited options with micro ATX so again, definitely looking for recommendations.

First, this is in the wrong forum.  This forum is Marketplace > Compatible Products & services.
ie: offering services..

Second,  Please check wiki.linuxmce.org for specific product inquiries.  If you don't see your product there, you can certainly find products similar, and once you have confirmed your products work, please add them to the wiki to help others.

There are multiple threads in this forum that ask the same type of questions without offering anything. I went through a lot of the stuff on the wiki and what i can still find is even available doesnt seem to have been tested.

On board audio here also...  looks like you're interest is in a case with a htpc design...  if you can do without, you could use what I'm using which is a really inexpensive setup...  has a geforce 6150 with dvi out..   and good on-board audio with spdif out..
