Networked Media Files

With a lot of help from the forums, I have a core hybrid running and acting as my dhcp server.  The mce has found all of the stored media sources on the network and as requested login information.  After providing that information, I went to to videos and there is nothing there.  What am I missing?

Did you tell LMCE to use the shares as "public" or with lmce's folder structure?  In case of the latter it expects the media files to be under public/data/videos/ etc...

Try looking around a bit for them in the web-admin under Files & Media > Media Files Sync (they could be under the "other" directory).

No media files are showing up.  I've made a critical mistake somewhere.

You need to move your files from their previous location to:
public/data/video

You mean that they have to be on the LinuxMCE machine?  I took for granted that it would add all media from networked computers.

LMCE makes folders on the share, you have to move the files around on the share (into the new folder).
Just check your NAS/Fileserver to check if there are new folders (public, user1, user2, and so on).
Move the media you need/want to the appropriate folder.
The reason is that you can still have 'private' files this way, and LMCE woun't have to go trough a whole lot of system and program files (for instance)

But if you chose 'make it all public' it should show up.
I have had some weird errors like this when media woun't show up at all, ever.

That is the way I understood it.  That if I make it public it should find them no matter what folder they are in.

Yes, sorry about that.
However, you could make a new share, and when LMCE picks up on it you could try to tell it to use the LMCE folder structere (just as a test).
I do believe your user need to have writing permissions on the share either way.
