You can try rebooting in "rescue mode", just press [Esc] when grub tells you to during the boot and select it from the menu.  I have very limited experience with the nvidia chipsets.

Could the problem be that the wrong output is selected? See AVWizard in the wiki for details on selecting different outputs, or try connecting a screen to the other outputs.

Speaking of nightmares, try helping people that won't listen...  :'(

well, it´s a nightmare to install linuxmce with a nvidia-card, where the installation-wizard of linuxmce says, it can handle the newest driver, but with the result of a black screen... but it´s a challenge  ;)
wrong output: at this point, I couldn´t start the av-wizard (black screen) because of the nvidia-issue in the xorg.conf.

I would say, it´s an issue of the driver, not of the output. Because if I install the opensource driver and the basic UI, I can start everything without any issue... but I don´t like the basic UI, when I see, what´s possible with alpha.

never give up: so I´ll try it again.

mardoc: install a DVI to VGA adaptor on your DVI port, and connect that way. I'm willing to bet it busts off first time. Please read my other posts on this.

Zaerc,
you are right. It was the output (only key 1) & X -configure after installation.
shame on me...
All these tries I always were allmost finished  :-\

thanx to you and respect!  8)

You're welcome, I'm glad you got it fixed after all.  I was almost beginning to worry it was a different problem ;)
