Cisco 8742HDC DVR
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:18:14 pm »
BrightHouse, my cable TV provider, has given me two Cisco 8742HDC DVRs. MCE isn't autodetecting them and I don't see a template. Any ideas whether this box will work?

We do not have a device template for this device. What are the control options? IR? RS232? Ethernet? If the latter two, is there a protocol specification that can be used to make a template/device?

IR and Ethernet, yes. RS-232, no. I'm also wondering whether BrightHouse firmware will allow networking via Ethernet without subscribing to their whole house DVR service.

Find a protocol specification. Google will help.
