Guys, quick question.

Have 3 identical panasonic cameras installed under motion wrapper. One camera records images properly whenever there is motion, the other two just snap a picture every minute, on the minute, not responding to motion. They were all installed in the same way. All the options in web admin look identical to me for the 3 cameras.

Any ideas how I can fix this? Would love to know ASAP, as am going away and have only just noticed it's doing this. Cheers.

I think the 60 second snapshots are taken by default by all cameras installed under motion.

Not sure why the motion events don't trigger the recordings though.

See: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Motion
Changing the Motion Wrapper settings
# I wanted my camera to detect movement when just two frames showed a difference, so I set minimum_motion_frames to 2.
# also need to set snapshot_interval to 2 (snapshot_interval 2)

What you describe are global settings for motion right? I have 3 cameras installed under motion - one behaves, and the other 2 do not i.e. movement doesn't trigger them to record. The settings are identical for all of them as far as I can tell.

Think I am going to take another look at ZoneMinder, as I am not actually using motion in the correct way (I have animals so motion detectors are useless to me!); all I need is for them to record when motion is detected.

Cheers,
Matt.

from what I understand motion tries to detect "fake" motion so if these cameras are in an area where wind moves trees alot then motion will try to ignore that and record only what it considers real motion.

It doesn't do that detection stuff very good for me and my outside camera rarely records actual motion. I've played with the settings quite a bit to increase the sensebility with some improvements.

I did a very fetching (and elaborate) dance in front of the camera; it didn't detect that :) Thanks though.

I am getting on OK with ZM, Panasonic BL-C10s are working well, just need to spend a bit more time with the Y-Cams.

Cheers,
Matt.
