Installation issues / Update/upgrade MD's from core not internet?
« on: June 02, 2011, 06:31:20 am »
Hi to all,

Is it possible to update/upgrade all the MD's from the core?.  If I have several MD's if i want to keep them updated, all of them have to download from the internet the packages.  Since they all boot up from the core, which means that they all should be at the same version of the core, would be faster to set up all the MD's to do the apt-get update/upgrade  from the core?
My apologies if this is a dumb question, I just couldn't find an answer  on the forum search

Cheers,

T

Hi Barney, thanks for the info and sorry for the off topic, it wasnt my intention.

I'm having a problem now that I don't understand, the settings for the LG template are not permanent.  Everytime I reboot the MD or quick reload, the configurations of the serial port, and unchecked "Disable" option under advance  are lost.  Any ideas?
Apparently PNP is messing things up

Hi Barney,

Sorry for the delay,  I did used a recent build.  When you mean RAID is any kind (sw or hw), is it easy to setup a secondary disk as a backup?.   I always thought that sw raid was a good option because it is not hw dependent.
At least that's what i read.   Any suggestions?. I agree that backup is always required, is it easy to setup PING?.

Thanks for your help

Cheers,

Tomas

Hi to all,

I figure it out!  ;D, by default the device is disabled... I think I read that some time ago and now it just realized what does that ment.  On webadmin,A/V equipment, the Device## with template 2126,  under advance, the disabled option was checked!!!!
Uncheck, quick router reload, and voila!!!
I have to configure now the tunner! and the DENON receiver.
So, I neve got the PNP to detect the LCD but by adding it manually worked ok!, so in terms of this post, the template is good!

Thank for posting, without the information within this forum, this would have been impossible.

Shared info:  I have a core/hybrid and planning to do a raid5 but it is sitting only as core, as MD I´m using a ZOTAC MAG 330, connected to it LG 32LH70 LCD, I have only tested VDPAU video with online  FLASH videos with great success @HD and 1080p.
Two usb to rs232, that only worked with the serial hack, one for the TV and the other will be used for the DENON
If anyone needs any help with this similar configuration, I´m incredible new on this but I'll do my best to share my little experience.

Sorry for the spelling, english is not my native language

Thanks again,

Tomas

Hi Barney,

I'm having problems with the USB part, for some reason it is not using the port or not working and I don't know what is going on.  PNP does not detects the LG tv, but if I run manually try serial test script I can control the tv.  I´m using a USB so it is ttyUSB0 under port part.
I added manually the TV as I found on another post using the AV part on the wizard, then changing manually the port using webadmin.  Since  I did the serial hack, i´m able to see all the available "serial ports" under the MD, I just select from the drop down the /dev/ttyUSB0 and update and reload but nothing.
I know the cable is ok because i get response from the TV and also the USB to serial has a little LED so I´m able to see if there is activity.

Thanks for your help and to anyone that is reading, all the help is welcome!!  :)

Cheers,

Tomas

There seemed to be a lot of interest in this until I brought up that there is a panel available worldwide that is fully supported then the discussion stopped?  Anyone want to test this stuff?

Hi los93sol,

I´m really interested on working on smart pannels integration.  Brake16 suggested my to talk to you about HAI integration and linked this post.
I wanted to know how integrated the HAI OMNI family is, can you control any of the devices connected to it?.  UPB, ZWAVE and of course security stuff.  I´m interested on the Omnipro pannel but looking around I found the ELK M1G.  This pannel has good DIY at coccoontech forum and it is cheaper!
If HAI is fully integrated, then maybe I could give it a try, but maybe there is a good opportunity to blend this two good products
Any ideas

Hello to all,

I bumped in this post by trying to find information on how to play simultanously a set of pictures with some music in the background.  I´m too new on this and I didn't wanted to post something that it is already solved.
By reading this I believe this is a way to get the same results because music option is independent of whatever pictures are playing.  So you could leave looping a set of pictures while you make a play list of music as the party continues!!!.
What about of taking this part from Mythtv? I hope Im not saying nonsense words  :-\

Installation issues / Re: Compatibility Question HAI Omni LT
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:44:12 am »
Hi Bryce,

Thanks for the replay, I have a couple of questions, I hope you could help.
What do you mean by fully integrated?, does this mean that you are able to take full control of the HAI omnipro (Lights, AC, security etc?) or it is only the security part?.

If this is yes, would you be able to control UPB or ZWAVE devices connected to the Omnipro?
Will the status of the devices (security sensors, Lights, etc) be updated all the time?
As far as I understood, Omnipro handles very well status report from the devices, which means that if you manually turned off a light, the system knows that you did it.
I believe there are several commercial producs like homeseer that does similar stuff as LMCE and communicate by using ethernet.

ELK M1G is excellent, I like it a lot, it has a good DIY support in coccoontech, it has some minor issues like status report that is not well kept but maybe they will fix it.  Prices are lower so it looks as a good option.
I think I'll open a post in cocoontech about the integration, maybe we all together find a good way to merge the tecnologies.  Im not a programmer but I'm willing to try.

Thanks for the links, I´ll start reading about the coding, maybe I could learn something new!

Hi Bryce,

I ment LMCE 810, thanks for asking.  So far I only have a hybrid core and one MD (mag zotac ion)  Any hints on HA with OmniPro or with ELK M1G?

Hi to all,

Im  very interested on this topic,  how was the outcome of the test with the omnipro II?  I don't have much experience with LMCE, right now Im running 810 without any problems for some months so far, some succesfull test with flash vdpau on a zotac ion and my next step is to jump to HA and security. Im not and linux expert but I want to help the the lmce proyect.

Have you ever heard about the ELK M1G smart security box, It is similar to the omnipro, also uses serial or ethernet connection but it is more for DIY people.

Cheers,
