I would truly recommend trying to control LMCE with an Orbiter, it opened my eyes when I got RoamingOrb going; everything is working much smoother and more logical. WebOrbiter is also OK but it's when you have a separate control device that things get flying.

I agree with this as well. Gyration remotes are nice to have too.

Try the F7 key

My bad, thanks for correcting.  It's been a while since I've used a keyboard on my MD.

What kind of remote are you using? Hitting the power button on the remote while a video is playing *should* stop playback.  I had the same frustration before I had a MCE remote. I don't think it can be done with just a mouse (I might be wrong here) but with a keyboard you should be able to hit Esc to get out of media playback. Hope this helps and welcome to LinuxMCE!

Michael

Installation issues / Re: snaphot 23800 MARCH 7
« on: March 09, 2011, 05:39:54 am »
I had the same behavior with snapshot 23759. I changed the default sort order to Title in lmce-admin -> orbiter. After an orber regen, it was back to normal title sort without the shares having their own folder.

I do a http://clonezilla.org/ image of my system hard disk after each apt-get upgrade. I do this for two reasons:

1. Drive failure. I have an image that I can restore fully configured and ready to go

2. Update issues.  If for any reason an apt-get upgrade does anything I don't want, I can restore the image.

For the media drive, I have a freenas box running in my workshop. I use rsync nightly to back up the media drive in the core.  Since it is in a different building on the property, I have a (sort of) off-site backup of my media. I have thought about using RAID5, but RAID is still not enough and I can get a full backup with just 2 2TB drives.

I have tried the system backup and restore on to a VM test core, I was not able to get it working.

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Can QOS be added?

Sounds good. I'm also taking a look at creating a libtorrent dce device, would make it easier to shape the p2p traffic imo.

One of these would make a sexy little MD... I hope we are able to get the proper drivers for that chipset.  There are many compact Mobo's that use the Intel GMA.

Murdock: Still working on this? I would like to help if it is not complete.  I'm having issues with my phone cutting out and I would like to help out if you are working on it. If you are not working on it, please let me know and I will take a look.

I had the exact same issue when setting up my provider, voipgo. I had to email their support staff to get a basic asterisk sip.conf example, which still had to be modified a bit. The changes I made to the create_amp_*.pl are attached tohttp://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/942.  Maybe your provider can help you by providing some basic asterisk configuration that you can use in creating a template?

Installation issues / Re: At grey screen when loading MCE

You may have run into this issue if you are using DVI or HDMI to connect to your TV:

I keep a VGA cable on hand for the first boot, or any other time I run the A/V wizard.

Did this ever get finished? I'm looking for a simple programming exercise to learn more about DCE.

Has anyone started to re-implement Dallas 1-Wire? I have a 9097U and I'm willing to take it on.

I'm going to see if I can get it working as a GSD over the holiday.

Hi this has happened to me a few times, you can see the orbiter running in the task bar, but when you click on it you only get the screen saver.  To get back to the Orbiter I have gone into the admin website either on the linuxmce box or another computer on the network and choose wizard -> restart -> reconnect to router.  Hope this helps.

My TV's native resolution is 1360x768. I tried 60Hz refresh, same result.
