Installation issues / Re: GeForce GTX760 - Failed to Setup X
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:23:59 pm »
CentralMedia - The driver updates worked like a champ. AVWizard started after first reboot. Thanks for the sage advice!! As for the beefy card, no offense taken. Thanks again for being interested. The box has 16GB of 2133 RAM and an AMD Phenom II X6 with an SSD drive. Way too much sexiness for this application, but it's just what I have available. I agree with you on the power consumption. Have you tried installing MCE on a DreamPlug or other appliance that doesn't require much?

l3mce - Here's the grep:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] [10de:1187] (rev a1)
   Kernel driver in use: nvidia
   Kernel modules: nvidia, nvidiafb, nouveau
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 HDMI Audio Controller [10de:0e0a] (rev a1)

Thanks again to both of you. Probably the best forum experience ever. Good advice and a potential to help the masses!!  ;D

Ok... I took the opportunity to add about 100 new nvidia cards to 1004 and submitted a new package request. Today or tomorrow you should be able to update and grab a new pluto-boot-scripts package, and it should install itself all the right way.

Cheers.

Is there a corresponding alsactl restore somewhere that also needs to be pulled?

-Thom

Well I cannot have forever funked ALSA by throwing a store or two at it. On reboot that shouldn't matter for shit. You can't hoze ALSA throwing a store val once... can you?

Please edit /usr/pluto/bin/SetupAudioVideo.sh and hash out "alsactl store" on lines 166 and 170. Also /usr/pluto/bin/AVWizard_Run.sh lines 437 and 476 for good measure... then reboot. Should fix this.

Installation issues / Re: HDMI NO AUDIO GT 430
« on: August 28, 2013, 05:03:55 pm »
woah woah woah...

First... I thought I had the 430 going ootb.

Second, to fix your funky screen, mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.back and reboot. Should dump you  to avwiz and sizing fixed.

This failure to install the pieces needed is breaking during the audio stuffs as well. During the initial install did this thing have internet access?

Please give me the output of lspci -nn | grep VGA

Trying to install 10.04 using an EVGA GeForce GTX760 and a Gateway HD DVI monitor. Monitor is connected via VGA using VGA to DVI adapter on the GTX760. I get the Failed to Setup X error after installation when the the AVWizard runs for the first time. MCE works just fine with the VESA drivers loaded during the Live setup. Any ideas on how to fix?

Don't even think this card existed when I finished detection. I probably don't have a ppid for it. Please return the result of
lspci -nnk | grep VGA -A3

If it is just missing I will add it. You will then just need to update and reboot and it should install what it needs and reboot to AVWiz.

No... this is me

It has to do with set vs change audio. Something I am doing to make sure audio isn't a problem, somehow the old value is stuck. Ill fix it.

Never got any input in to if anybody is working on TV in 1204... But looking around in svn revealed a bit for me...

There's no trace of Myth (neither in branches 1004 or trunk) - it does exist in 810.. odd..
In /external I can find "VDR.Oct-10-2005/"... Will consider that not to be under heavy development??? (The current version of VDR is 2.0.2, but it is still from the design concept meant to be a stand alone application, and only support the server-client needs we have via plugins - to the best of my knowledge).

So input on what's going on, if anything, would be great...

I have been busy. I have to get the 1204 dvd making happily, and then I am going to have some time to get back to my XBMC plugins. One for controlling xbmc, and one for xbmc controlling LMCE. I also built a gstreamer plugin which can get TV. I would be interested in seeing the backend link you are referring to. I would like to integrate some stuffs... and am probably the only one working on related toys.

So, in short, I would be happy to work with you, if you don't treat me or my friends like a dick. Nobody is more receptive to adaptation and improvement and stability than Tschak. Myth works like gangbusters for me... so I have had no impetus to change anything other than common complaint.

If you manage to get me ssh access and drop into IRC at the right time I will be happy to go in and do things.

Cause I have been told so before... Doesn't make it correct, that is why I said think. Wine can be very hungry... seems like a terrible idea... but I am not the arbiter of what is and isn't acceptable  lol.

Do not believe we will be implementing any kind of wine solutions.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying.

If you have two outputs on your GPU, and you are wanting one to be for one room and one to be for the other... that is not currently possible, and while it was my intent to eventually do this... the next step would be figuring out how to detect and differentiate between outputs, drop that indent info into the database, build a new X window, lock down its state, designate a separate entertainment area for those idents which do not exist... and figure out what to do about avwizard.

It is a lot of work I discovered for a feature almost nobody would take advantage of and is handled more efficiently with separate MDs.

In order for an MD to be able to run two orbiters at once, it is going to need more hw/electricity than two ion nettops imo.

I could split a single output to multiple rooms. Running a separate orbiter would be a trick. Entertainment areas would need some serious thinking/coding to be able to run double duty from a single machine with multiple outputs. What you want could be done, but I reject on premise that it would be more cost effective.

Installation issues / Re: 10.04 Install issue [SOLVED]
« on: March 15, 2013, 11:45:29 pm »
Ok... well... finished adding support just recently, and expect that upgrading isn't getting it done.

First of all... do yourself a favor and ssh into this thing on the internal network. Then you don't have to squint through lines like you are trying to see boobs on scrambled cable. You can also copy and paste all this stuff.

Code: [Select]
apt-cache policy fglrx | grep stall
uname -r

If fglrx installed version does not read 2:9.002-0ubuntu1 OR if uname -r does not read 2.6.38-16-generic (or -generic-pae)
You are going to want to do the following...
Code: [Select]
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get -y remove --purge fglrx* --force-yes
apt-get -y install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri --force-yes
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
apt-get -y install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core --force-yes
rm /etc/X11/xorg.con*
reboot

It will then upgrade your kernel (could take a while... you can press esc at the penguin load screen to see what it is doing), reboot, put you on the ati driver we like, reboot, and drop you at avwizard.

Users / Re: switched from computer screen to my plasma & no video
« on: March 14, 2013, 10:01:56 pm »
I wrote logic to figure all this out... it is simply untested in its current state.

What happens when detecting graphics, is that if more than one card exists, it breaks them down, figures out what they are, and rank them based on my arbitrary scale of which is "better". It calls this Best_Video_Card. When avwiz hits, it takes this ranked card and converts its busID to a base 10 address and writes it to the temporary xorg.conf as the thing to use.

I would really need your help to figure out why it isn't working as I expect. Any chance you can drop into IRC and ping L3xxx in there?
