Did the trick. realtime priority threads was ticked once changed no delays when changing to guide.

I'm not 100% sure what snapshot I installed so maybe a slightly older one.

Can someone with current snapshot confirm this?

Another possibility is disabling realtime priority threads in mythtv frontend. I think it is enabled by default.

Thats triggered the brain going :) I'm pretty sure I have done that in the past. Will test tonight.

Cheers,

Yep I'm running a new install as of last week and when I go in and out of TV guide the system locks up for few seconds or becomes jumpy. Eventually comes right but is pain in the arse.

I have not had chance to go through things yet but I do have comm skip turn on and VDPAU slim. I use a remote not keyboard so not sure what F7 does.

Running a 8600GT card.

Its not setting up a extra virtual tuner per card by chance? http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/record_multiple_channels_from_one_multiplex

Might be a long shot and I'm not at my machine to check if mine has more than one. Would be great if installed 2 per tuner by default so long as it works :)

Installation issues / Re: Media Directors hanging

I've had similar problems (On initial boot not after setting them up) and ended up creating new generic PC as MD in web admin, entering the MAC address and then booting up the MD which seems to work fine.

Have you seen this? http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/702#comment:2

Just got off phone with someone who got his delivered yesterday. Said unit quite slow but what expect for the price. Initial battery life does not seem overly good either.

Check out these for a little bit more should be able to get a better unit http://www.wirelession.com/Product.asp?p=1

It does work. I'm using it at the moment.

Did you wait for it to regen when created as takes few mins? Try doing a full regen and then reload. If that does not work then try executing sudo killall -9 Proxy_Orbiter just in case it has deadlocked(not likely since you have not used it yet).

Sorry not read all posts in detail but you replied to Thom - "No all standard cat5 connected to the router" but you had mentioned you were using one from core to laptop? No cross over should be needed in the setup.

Did you try core to laptop directly with standard network cable?

When you inserted the DVD did it say reading DVD or something before poping up something about dvdcss (sorry been a while since seen it so cannot remember the exact screens).

You will need to run:
sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2
to get DVD's to play.

Did the CD actually play? You could try copying over a mp3 to the system and checking to see if that works.

When you select UI settings in the initial wizard make sure you set it to UI1 and once everything is up and running properly you can re run wizard and try the other 2. This might fix your video in wizard problem.

Hopefully that might fix some of your issues.

I'm an idiot! rechecked and found I had the wrong ID  :-\

Reloaded and test commands seem to work fine. Have rolled back for now but once reliable updates out will work at getting scenarios setup.

Thanks for help.

I have no problem about any of that and I do use the snapshots to test new features expecting hit and miss for working images (thats what I have backups for!)... BUT if so why is it in the wiki for installing 8.10 "Highly recommended"? (could be wrong but didn't you put that up bongowongo? ;D)

Anyway was not wanting to turn this into anything was just a suggestion.  :)

glad .23 is coming along nicely. Great work and thanks to those involved in getting it sorted!

Thanks,

Once I get home will do some testing and let you know the model. I will also add wiki for them and note working models.

Thanks,

I have 22958 runnning at the moment with Myth issues although kinda works does compain about backend not reachable I think but then starts TV anyway! everything else seems fine so far.

This could be a good thing to have as a sticky on the forum for people to post about experiences of snapshots? Would save people time and bandwith (especially those hosting the site!)

The IR controlled Toshiba RAS-Series Air Conditioning template was added the system with yesterdays updates which is awesome but I'm not sure what I have to do to get it running? I added it to the climate devices but the device template notes says:
This device allows you to control a Toshiba RAS series air conditioning unit via IR control. The IR transmitter device must be manually configured because of limitations in the GSD implementation. The SetFan and SetTemp commands wont turn the device on by themselves, but rather allow you to specify the fan and temperature before actually sending the command to the device. If the device is already on, the fan and temperature commands will of course be sent right away.

Any advice on how to get this working would be great. I've had a look through settings and USB-UIRT is selected for controlling it. Not sure if something should go in PK_Device or some other setting is needed?

Cheers,
