after transfering all my files (around 8.000 mp3 files and 1.500 video files avi, mpeg, mkv, wmv), i'm getting periodic crashes when browsing the media library, i.e, Media -> Audio. Dragging the mouse down for fast scroll (4 arrows), after some rolling, it stops, the UI2 freezes, and the orbiter begins to rebuild.
The same happens when browsing the Media -> Videos.
I don't think is lack of computing power. The orbiter is running on the hybrid, with a Phenom 955, 2 GB DDR 800, Nvidia 8200 with 512 MB and a 1 TB Raid 5.
Anyone got this problem?

i did try to install the orbiter on windows CE (.cab), but no luck. it opens a configuration window but nothing happens.

i do need subtitles support, and got a suggestion to rename the srt file.
I have Avatar.avi and Avatar.srt, and according to the suggestion i symlinked the Avatart.srt to Avatar.avi.srt.
Did not work.
Renamed Avatar.srt to Avatar.avi.srt.

Please, is there a way to use subtitles?
Could one of the developers give me some hint in how to make it work, because in the file /etc/pluto/xine.conf. i've found:
# Subtitle autoloading
# bool, default: 1
#gui.subtitle_autoload:1
As i understand, the default should be autoloading subtitles, but it does not.
I tryed to uncoment the line gui.subtitle_autoload:1, hopping it could help, but no effect.
Is there a way to make it work, or would it be better to download the whole source tree and try to find out where to fix it?

i´ve installed the beta 2 in my upgrade machine, and after that, i configured mythtv. I´m using the Hauppuge PVR -150. When starting TV (mythtv), i get i bottom stripe, colored like a rainbow, and i´m not able to make this stripe go away. Did anyone face such a problem?
Configuration:
PVR-150 with antena on coax. Scanning "try-all" does nothing. Scanning us-bcast only brings 4 channels, but i have channels from 2 to 103. Scanning us-cable also does nothing.

Hya,
after upgrading my hybrid (Asus M3N78-VM with AMD 955 and 2 GB), i've installed 4 drives:
1 with 320 GB for boot and system and 3 drives with 500 GB each and configured these 3 drives with mdadm making a RAID 5 array (/dev/md0).
My problem:
after transfering almost all my videos (avi, mkv, mpg, etc), when trying to play any of them, i get freezing during the playback, at the very beginning... then it accelerates the play and stops again.... during this freezings, the mouse also stops for a while.
The drive led indicator remains lit during this freezings.
I think that the array is simply too slow transfering the files... and that it's management drains all the resources.
Did anyone had such an experience or knows what could be happening?
It's the first time i'm trying to use mdadm and a RAID 5 array.

before installing beta2 (latest), i was running the november version. In this version, i installed the restricted nvidia 180 module after apt-get dist-upgrade.
With that, applying the ugly hack, and setting the useEDID flag to true solved the overscan issue.

With this new beta, the 195.30 nvidia drivers where installed , and even with the useEDID flag setted to true, the overscan issue is back.

No matter what i've tryed, i could not solve the overscan issue.

So, searching, i've found that i could use the nvidia-settings utility to solve the ovescan issue.
Opening nvidia-settings under kde, GPU-0 -> DFP-0 (in my case, Philips 37_42 LCD TV) and playing with te Ovescan Compensation ruler, i've found that 64 solves my ovescan problem.
Now, under nvidia-settings Configuration, Saving the curent configution created the file .nvidia-settings-rc.
Browsing this file, i've found the following line: dcerouter:0.0/OverscanCompensation[DFP-0]=64
Searching and researching, i've found the /etc/pluto/X-PostStart.sh, and it contained the following:

nvidia-settings -a "SyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoTextureSyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoBlitterSyncToVBlank=1"
So, i did the following modification:

nvidia-settings -a "OverscanCompensation[DFP-0]=64"
nvidia-settings -a "SyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoTextureSyncToVBlank=1"
nvidia-settings -a "XVideoBlitterSyncToVBlank=1"
After rebooting the system, the overscan issue was gone.
My personal feeling is that the image quality with the 180 nvidia restricted driver was better than the 195.30 driver.
Maybe someone can tell me why or can tell me how to improve the image (fonts, etc..) quality.

Hi,
Having video-file.avi and video-file.srt on the same diretory (videos), i can watch the video, but the subtitles are not shown.
Did not test yet, but would also have it working for mkv and other formats.....
How can i force pluto-xine to show the subtitles?

Question: is it possible to use the SPA-3102 on the extenal network, making use of the QOS during heavy downloads, i.e. during torrents downloads?

I'm looking for the Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-SE2 to buy, but am not finding it in the US and the Hauppauge site does not mention this model....

The question is: did anyone succeeded in installing it and making it work?
Ok, i could use a SPA-3102, but it's expensive yet (in Brazil), and having one PSTN access i would use it with a X100P card.

Hi all,
i do have a question regarding private files access:
when accessing the private files (media), i do need to give in the pin. Ok. But when, trying to access another file, i do need again to give the pin. Is there a way that the access to private files have a timeout, i.e. 10 minutes, before asking for the pin again? Or selecting the user, giving the pin, it's valid for a certain period of time...

my MOBO is an ASUS M3N78-VM, with the ASUS SPDIF-SA expansion port.
The optical SPDIF port of the MOBO is not recognized, but the one from the expansion port is.
So, i was able to have optical SPDIF output to the AV amp, and selecting it from the AVWizard menu works (audio volume, dolby and dts).

Problem: some video files (DVD images - diretory with audio_ts and video_ts) plays the image, but not sound.

To verify what is happening, i booted another partion, with kubuntu 8.10, same kernel (2.6.25-15), same alsa upgrades (1.0.21-4). Using kaffeine, the same file played with sound.
Sometimes, when kde is starting (kmix is launched) i can hear the "kde welcome" sound from the hdmi (my LCD TV),  on this environment.

Using Webadmin -> media director  under sound card = standard sound, audio settings = SPDIF Toslink and Use AC3/DTS pass-through is marked.

Beside this, the volume is not manageable.
I also tried, under LinuxMCE to use KDE, but under this environment, aplay -l return no cards, but sudo aplay -l returns the card list.
libdvdcss2, w32codecs are installed (i did it after installing LinuxMCE 0810).
Is there any error i could not find, in order when playing this files having the sound working?

Hi all,
after installing 0810, another partition was recognized during setup (/dev/sda6) and i made it public, but not using LinuxMCE structure. This partition was mounted under /mnt/devices/35 and with a symbolic link to /home/public/data/other/SAMSUNGxxxxxx.
How can i change the structure of this partition so i can hold public and private files, recognized by LinuxMCE (yes, i can create all the directory tree, but will it be recognized under /home/public/data/other)?

Hi,
after installing LinuxMCE 0810, with a Hauppauge PVR-150, on the MD menu i click on media and select TV. Ok, mythtv is started and i pick watch tv. it enters and gets back to menu again. All other actions (media library, etc...) produces the same: resets to mythtv main menu again.
Anyone faced this problem?

did write before about some issues, never got an answer......
- About ripping: i ripped a cd, but the encoding was wrong.... and after changing the encoding from ogg to mp3, i want to rip the cd again, but putting the same cd, i see the rip icon marked. How to reset it, in order to be able to rip the cd again with the desired encoding?
- Video resolution: on a hybrid core/md. i think that the orbiter resolution should reflect in the xorg.conf file, but i'm really not finding the way to do it.
- i did run /usr/pluto/bin/UpdateMedia, and the avwizard video files appeared in the index media files. Is there a way to run it and not including the the avwizard files?
- prolink pixelview card. i gave up, because could not find how to make mythtv use it (but tvtime uses it fine). gonna get a hauppauge pvr-150.

Hi Developers,
as i understood, using a hybrid configuration (core and media director on the same unit) brings two overlayed windows:
one from the core and the other from the media director.
after installing and defining (AVWizard) the hdmi 720p resolution, i had to scale the window down (4 times -) so the yellow arrows fit the borders. But i guess this downscale was not reflected in the xorg.conf and the media director (admin website -> media director). In the xorg.conf file, the resolution (modeline) is 1280 x 720 and media director 1280 720/60 720p.
This obviously does not fit my screen, being the displayed screen larger than the monitor screen.
I tryed to change the media director resolution (admin website) to 1024 520 (which fits correcty), regenerated the md image, but the lmce screen became shifted up left.
Tryed to look at /usr/pluto/bin files, but the resolutions are hardcoded.
In such a case, should the resolution be changed at xorg.conf and md image? And how to set a custom resolution to AVWizard?

Would there be any incompatibility using the 2.6.28 kernel (from jaunty)? On another partition i tested kubuntu 8.10 with 2.6.28 kernel and got hdmi audio working..... (this kernel question is not related to the video resoluton issue).

as a newbie in LinuxMCE, some questions may sound trivial, but i'm not finding out how to solve them.
MOBO: Asus M3N78-VM with aditional SPDIF OUT/COA+OPT 4pin SPDIF (part #300290699535).
TV: Philips 37PFL7312 LCD HD Ready (using HDMI)
Orbiter: Nokia N95 8GB
Bluetooth dongle: Motorola
Amplifier: Yamaha DSP-A1 (using optical)

Intallation procedures:
SATA disks as AHCI (HD and DVD drive)
install Kubuntu 8.10
dist update + dist upgrade
AlsaUpgrade 1.0.21-4
Linux MCE 0810
All with a LG monitor.

After install:
audiovideowizard
video -> dvi/hdmi-1 720p 60 Hz -> had to scale down (- 4 times) to fit the arrows on screen
sound -> spdif optical -> plays "anlog", dolby and dts.
Install up to end.

After install:
HDMI lmce screen ok, but calling KDE, the size of the screen is 1280x720, but the window size is larger than my lcd screen.
Tryed to add the orbiter at admin website -> orbiters, but the JavaMO is not sent to the phone.
The kmix does not work (i.e, i can not rise or reduce the volume using the volume key of the keyboard, neither under kde or lmce, but before installing lmce, kmix was working and volume controled by the keyboad volume key).
Having a pixelview play tv pm 4900 card with it's remote control, added remote control pixelview play tv pro lirc and pixelview ir receiver at admin website. lirc was downloaded.
Playing a DVD, the initial analog sound (when in menu) does not play, but on audiovideowizard, it works. Selecting the audio DTS on DVD menu, it plays well.


Questions:
1) is there a way to rescale the KDE resolution so it fits the LCD screen?
2) how can i add the N95 orbiter and have the JavaMO being sent to it?
3) how can the pixelview remote be recognized by the system
4) how to have all the audio working?

Hi all,
after some work, i did succeed install LinuxMCE 0810. Before installing the MCE part, i did install Kubuntu 8.10 and did the tests with my Prolink Pixelview PlayTV MPEG2 PV-M4900 and the remote control, using lirc. Everything worked fine.
After installing MCE 0810, the kernel shows the bttv loaded, but i could not find how to tell MCE to recognize my TV card and how to use the remote control.
Do anyone know how to have it working under MCE?
