I am trying to boot a shuttle x50 v2 as MD
firstly I needed to add the JME network drivers. This worked and it now tries to boot linuxmce.
But it stops with a "soft lockup" CPU0 61sec
Then a lot of jibbrish and then Setting up system clock fail

Just before the lockup message is presented I see this message
Code: [Select]
sdhci-pci 0000:01:00:2:refusing to bind to secondary interface
sdhci-pci 0000:01:00:2: pci int B disabled
sdhci is the cardreader?
The cardreader is the same chip is the network card, the jmicron 261. Should I place also drivers for the cardreader?
Or is it a different problem.
Googling the problem I got a lot of reference with wireless cards. The wireless card in this MD is a rtl8191se.

Both devices may be disabled, but it is not possible through bios, can't I tell linuxmce just not to try and load them?
Or otherwise just for the fun of it, can you point me the way to get this working?

I have a long time problem with the latest installs, that my two tv-cards are not producing sound in mythTV.
I used a liveCD of MythBuntu, and they worked like a charm.
In dmesg, both cards seem to have trouble to get them registered with alsa.
The dmesg is filled with errors eg:
Code: [Select]
disagrees about version of symbol. The problem arrises with both the Pinnacle 310i (saa7134_alsa) and my Hauppauge 4000 (cx88_alsa).

Reverting to older alsa version gets the card registered, and no errors in dmesg.
Code: [Select]
apt-get remove alsa-modules-`uname -r`
My questions.

  • Am I the only one?
  • Does this have something to do with wrongfull compiling alsa?
  • Or does it have something to do with how the drivers are loaded, e.g. first saa7134_alsa, and then the V4L drivers, and then alsa general.
  • Has it do with a incompatibility between alsa 1.0.23 and v4l?

I own a Hauppauge 4000
I have a lot of problems in MythTV 0.22, now with the port to 0.23 I have the same problems.

In the wizard, it detects I accept for linuxMCE to use it, skip all settings (camera) and let the orbiter show up.
I then go through computing to mythTV-setup.
I chose the tuner and only that tuner gets bind to the linuxmce user. I have made a channel. Just a normal setup.

I let mythTV fill database
after confirmation, I do a reload router.

MythTV plays and I see picture <no audio though> and I quit.
If I try to reopen MythTV a get the crash with the prompt | all conections are being used or cannot connect to mythbackend.

If I go to backend, I see that the LCME-default user is binded to another tuner in my card.

If I delete all tuners, and add only one tuner, it is sometimes succesfull, but after revisiting MythTV, crash as above, and MythTV backend is filled with other tuners, who are binded to the linuxmce default user.

Who has similar problems, and do you have a hauppauge card?

If you are trying to help testing 0.23,  the latest snapshot-build is not working at all. I am talking about  LinuxMCE-8.10-22966-i386.iso 22-May-2010 00:16  3.8G . The latest build which results in at least a working core, but half-broken myth 0.23 = LinuxMCE-8.10-22958-i386.iso 20-May-2010 16:16  3.8G.
Hopefully I speared you some downloading and installing woes.

Users / MythTV how to configure. Please help me step by step
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:07:06 am »
Hello fellow MythTV adventurers. I need help step by step to install and configure MythTV.
I tried certain approaches, all failed, but I had success with Mplayer, so I know now it is possible.
But I do not know how to configure MythTV

Hardware
Hauppauge WinTV 4000
"Tele 2 TV Box" connected from S-Video, to S-Video of the card.
For audio I used the red and white of the "Tele 2 TV Box" and plugged this into the "audio in" of the Hauppauge WinTV 4000

Just for the purpose of testing the hardware I used the liveCD of MythDora http://mythdora.com/?q=MD12.23-Release-Notes
This is what I typed into Konsole for me to get a working picture and sound:
Code: [Select]
mplayer tv:// -tv norm=PAL-BG:input=2:alsa=1:adevice=hw.1:audiorate=48000:immediatemode=0:amode=1
MythTV could not be correctly configured.
See attached pictures for settings I used in MythTV

P.S.
I know I used 0.23 rc2 but I think for configuring it should not be that different than what we use now?
Also never get it to work under linuxmce 0810, MythTV and the Mplayer code.

Users / Wiki swamp | Category 0810?
« on: April 28, 2010, 09:04:35 am »
Hello fellow users,

Had a problem with linuxmce 0810, and couldn't find a solution quick enough, or were not certain the wiki entry will even work on your newly installed 0810 beta?

Let's make this vow..............that if you used a wiki-page in 0810 succesfully put it in the 0810 category by using [[Category: 0810]]  on top of the wikipage.
Example:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ShuttleX50V2
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Category:0810

Because we are not into a release yet, you should state which built of the beta you used.

I think it is a good and simple idea, in the end we can purge all articles not 0810.
Please give me some feedback.

P.S.
This also counts for forum topics that are succesfully solved.
If you are not a linux wiz/coder/dev please contribute through the wiki.

I am having trouble to PXE boot this device. It is recognised by dcerouter and get's an IP
It then wants to load the image but then the kernel panic starts, it is the same alert in this topic http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8386.0.
Code: [Select]
/init:  .: 1: Can't open /tmp/net-eth0.conf
[   18.907868] Kernel panic - not syncing: Attemtped to kill init!

Running through the topic it states that I have to insert the drivers for the network card. But I have no idea where to find the drivers for this device.
The network card is a JMicron JMC261 single-chip PCIe Fast Ethernet.
I think if I have those files it is just running the wiki tutorial that applies to unrecognised nics, and we will see what troubles lie ahead.

It seems that these snapshots are (probably) broken, try 08-Apr-2010.
Otherwise you are wasting your time. Hopefully somebody can confirm my findings.

Feature requests & roadmap / Reset LinuxMCE install to default values
« on: March 23, 2010, 04:01:11 pm »
After noumerous installs, because of testing and breaking the core into pieces, isn't there an easy way to make a "Back to factory / fresh install settings". If you press this button it will take you back to the settings of just after a succesfull install? Maybe it is also possible to make a button to do it at certain periods of the install, so you can rollback to those settings.
Any ideas if this is feasably and should be on our wishlist.

Users / [fixed] Help with installing / controlling PLCBUS 1141E USB
« on: December 06, 2009, 10:54:21 pm »
I have some troubles with my PLCBUS 1141E USB getting to work.
I have followed the following wiki
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Setting_Up_PLC-BUS_Template

What would also really help me is a "program" to run through Console in KDE to just test the device if it can communicate with it (if it sends commands to a child I can hear a buzz, so then I know that works).

I can choose which usb port I communicate with so that seems installed correct
/dev/ttyUSB0 (pco0000:00/0000:00:10.1+1,0)

It is hooked up to my usb port and to my knowledge I can communicate with it.
For every command I give through the menu of the page "  Send command to device " I will post the log that comes up in my "follow log" screen.

I have no real childs now in my system but made a light and gave it address A1, just to test, and hear if my 1141 will make the buzz sound.

Users / Post your MD Boottimes
« on: November 10, 2009, 03:28:03 pm »
Just curious how fast a / your MD boots.

In virtualbox my MD netboots in 4:00 minutes from bios to usability.
I want to see if it makes difference booting from Harddisk or Net.

And 4:00 seems quite long to see my favorite show "Squarebob Spongepants".

Also has Beta / debugging code a big influence on these boottimes?

Installation issues / Initial install wizard conflict
« on: November 10, 2009, 11:12:46 am »
Upon installing there are twee wizards.
The first when where you set resolution audio etc, which is followed with the sweet little lady.

Recently when installing I select resolution, and the screen is regenerating but I see the second wizard instead of finishing the first.
After a while the first wizard kicks in and I can continue.

This happened to me with the DVD-Beta1 intallation and the net-installation.

I am using virtualbox, which didn't have this problem before.

Asus has released a eeeBox that runs on the ION platform, so with an Nvidia chipset. In my humble opinion this is the best MD now to place behind a Television screen, they just fit so nicely and have Nvidia graphics.
