Hi mic-man,

just to ease up your pain, I just spent _more than hundred hours_ figuring it out how to control a "simple" serial device. What you have still might not be instantly fully working for every scenario, but what I understand, the services from the company are extremely good and you should be in good hands. The DIY+forum way sure is not the easiest one!

Have a happy time with LMCE.

Regards,

Can you get to the webadmin and sort it out there?

Purps, thanks for the tip! Just ordered one. No immediate need, but it'll be handy when needed.

Price is right.
I just don't get it why should one be able to adjust the home temp from outside.
Oh yes, it's geegy, but still?

Very interesting. As an orbiter guy, was going to order one or two:
'Unfortunately, we are unable to sell to countries outside the UK.' Darn.

Now that you succeeded so well and fast with the driver, would it be possible to document the whole process in wiki?

I know there are pages referenced already in this thread, but still, that would be a mega contribution.

I'm sure there a bunch of others like me that would like to compose some drivers or support for new devices, yet, it's too complicated (at least to me) with diffused and distributed information.

Seems to me that at the moment the lmce 8.10 is really deep in beta phase. In the meantime, this is reeaally appealing alternative for more dramatic approaches:

Added to my to-do list..

Great!
Looks like this is the easiest way for me...

Thank you very much nite_man!!!

Hey grind. Please keep us updated how it's going!
I have bunch of 1-wire sensors, yet no integration with the lmce.

Thx,
defining mac address and ip address in webadmin solved it.

Wasn't able to get cameras working either.
Did you end up using dhcp in the camera or what solved your case? Your response above suggests not using dhcp in the camera.
Thanks.

Thanks. If/when get a GC-100 will see if can work it out.

Agreed the GC100 looks to be a good fit this.

Hi!

An alternative that has a lot of potential is the JeeNode by JeeLabs at http://news.jeelabs.org/docs/jn4.html. Very low priced but very capable for bunch of automation and data logging tasks.

I've already suggested to use this as a networked fire alarm, the other more conventional uses are for instance electricity/gas consumption logging, movement/light sensor etc. Requires 'just' a simple GSD implementation (which I just cannot do yet :-| ).

I'm not affiliated to the JeeLabs, I just have a number of their products waiting to be integrated into LinuxMCE. Hope to see more people getting interested in this!

Nobody wants to add more details in the wiki at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/IPC-1002 or here in this thread?
C'mon share the knowledge and help us newbies!

Feel free to add or correct the wiki if you find it lacking information.

sambuca
Yep, please do that! I assume I didn't miss the wiki page, but if so, could you provide me the link? (still trying to get door sensor to trigger an event or show some response..)

how about joining forces to get 1-wire working? I am also interested in that, but have (not yet) not much programming knowledge.

many of You guys seems to have much experiences of 1-wire, how about if we start a wiki page collecting all knowledge about 1-wire, how to write drivers and how to get it going?

cheers Stefan

Sounds good. I'm sure there are a lot of users that would use the 1-wire stuff, if it was supported.

Data logging would be an excellent feature to add now, too (web admin -> automation -> data logger)!

Re... the OrbiterInstaller.msi is 0 bytes question above... I too logged into the admin area and the link to the Win Installer pulls down a 0 byte file.  I tried using the RapidShare link above and the response was ~too many downloads had occurred for this type of account.

Sully, use the link krys provided above.
