Actually I'm glad that Thom said that- got me thinking- the problem doesn't exist for me on any of the orbiters- the one I got from TKmedia, the win orbiter, etc, the problem only seems to appear when I'm using a MD with a touchpad.  Widescreen, can you confirm?

no I can't, because i do not have any other touchscreen devices.  ;)

you wanna fix it? install orbiter properly on a device, or get a WebDT from tkmedia.

Otherwise, I'll have to fx the GenericHIDInterface class when I can.

oooo..kay, That's what i was asking. sorry if it sounded a way, i know your busy, that's why i asked of there was a work around because i didnt want to bug you. Maybe i'm a little slow, what do mean install it properly? Not sure what i have done wrong.  I have 8.10 installed as a core with a touchscreen, i assume you mean that's no good?

that is the same issue i'm referring to. It isn't that it's clicking on the upper left hand corner.  It is appending the number one to the release of every selection, thereby bringing up the lighting screen making touchscreens unusable.

I solved one problem with my core touchscreen and between my first 8.10 install and the latest 8.10 install update used in my reinstall, there is another issue. Whenever I touch home or make certain other selections, it appends "1" right after thereby sending me to lighting. example, if i select direct dial, the keypad shows up with a 1, if I dial 9....you see 91, dial 8...you 81 etc etc.  It has nothing to do with the driver and this was not happening before the latest alpha install.  My question is whether this has to do with .xorg settings or should i create a xmodmap, or if this is a error like the one that existed in the prior alpha install with weird characters were showing up? It seems to be happening upon "release", meaning if i hold my finger it stay on the main menu. Once i move my finger off, it's like pressing 1 in the keyboard.  I works perfectly on the kubuntu desktop, no errors there. thanx ;D

yes it did,

just won't go beyond this point:

running diskliess_setup.sh
running DHCP_config.sh
running diskless_exportsNFS.sh
rebooting
[   377.034413] md: stopping all md devices

Even after I finish the entire wiki, it reboots it goes back to saying:

Ipconfig: eth0: siocgifindex:
no such device
ipconfig:no devices to configure
/init: .: line 1: can't open /temp/net-eth0.conf
kernel panic - syncing: attempted to kill init!
 ???

as the wiki states:

"This will create a new initial ramdisk for the first boot of new MDs containing the atl1 module (or in your case for whichever module you have added). Now, the first boot of the diskless MD will succeed and a new diskless media director will be created."

following the completion of the first part of the above quoted unrecognized nic wiki, does this lead to the wizard setup or :

running diskliess_setup.sh
running DHCP_config.sh
running diskless_exportsNFS.sh
rebooting
[   377.034413] md: stopping all md devices

because after reboot....even after completing all the steps in the wiki, the md reboots and returns to the original error message i was getting.
 ???

pigdog, collin, thanks. I got it to work. Not sure what worked because i did both suggestions but, thanks to you both for helping out. I appreciate it guys.  ;D

Maybe someone tell me if i'm missing something I could do to pxe boot a MD with 8.10. It works well if i use it as 8.10 core. Thus far i have
1)followed the unrecognized nic wiki and tried adding Atl2 to /etc/initramfs-tools-interactor/modules for a Attansic L2 chipset.
2)/went into the core and went to tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg and edited the default boot script to remove acpi=off.

But i get to a point where it says:

Ipconfig: eth0: siocgifindex:
no such device
ipconfig:no devices to configure
/init: .: line 1: can't open /temp/net-eth0.conf
kernel panic - syncing: attempted to kill init!

any input appreciated. thanks guys

Installation issues / Re: 0810 installation problem
« on: July 07, 2009, 08:24:37 am »
When I install 0810 according to step 1~5 (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-0810_alpha2), some packages were failed during download, is there a way to do compensation instead of re-install again? Such as following errors:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#### Package pluto-orbiter failed (/tmp/tmp.kjMwK10754) - We wait 10sec and try again - to stop retrying press Ctrl-C.
Reading package lists...

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
pluto-orbiter: Depends: pluto-confirm-dependencies but it is not going to be installed
Depends: pluto-sdl-helpers but it is not going to be installed

Depends: pluto-simplephone but it is not going to be installed
Depends: pluto-avwizard but it is not going to be installed
PreDepends: libhid0 but it is not installable
PreDepends: libsdl-gfx1.2-4 (>= 2.0.13) but it is not installable

I was getting the same message after 8 installation attempts and I doubt that this was the issue, but i tried swapping the ethernet cables between the onboard and pci ports and said a few Our fathers, sacrificed 3 goats and a 6 pack of guiness(ok 5, i drank 1), went to church and it finally completed the installation.  Of course another issue followed and i had to "solve" the blank screen issues by booting into recovery mode and changing video settings.  Now i have issues with my MD, after wizard setup it gets to a point of saying
Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf smbd only...done
ubuntu 8.10 moon tty1
moon59 login:

All of the same hardware which worked fine without a hitch in 7.10 is giving problems.....strange.

Users / Re: Android Orbiter

Just to give my 2 cents, I would contribute to an android orbiter.  I do not have either a android phone nor a iphone, but it would make more sense to have an orbiter for the android phones considering that only AT&T has the iphone.  Android phones will be available on cdma and gsm networks such as verizon, sprint, AT&T, and t-mobile, making android a better choice for linuxmce.  The bigger the pool of users, the bigger the pool of people who would contribute for development now and for future versions of an orbiter. :=)

hello,
one question, i have ubuntu 8.10 + kde 3.5, will lmce 8.10 install ok on that? by the way, the reason i'm asking is because i had to change the kernel and go through some changes to get my hardware working, so i just wanted add lmce to it as it without undoing all my work. thanks

Here it is again, it is only 4.3" and probably will never be seen in the states.
