Here's something I would put $100.00 on:

   - To have LinuxMCE, recognize (either from a given (network) directory or generally), display and play from iTunes playlists. Not necessarily to have the ability to edit the playlists. Just recognize it and play from them.

Wife and I have several playlists that we want to be able to play in the house, not just in our iPods, but currently we can't.

And please let's not get into the argument of which media player is best or that there are better ways to make playlists than iTunes. Now, if there's something I don't know (which is usually the case), please respond the details in a different thread, to keep this one clean...thanks. ;-)

Users / Web Orbiter enabled by default
« on: August 10, 2009, 06:59:36 pm »
Hi guys...
Is there a particular reason why the web orbiter is not enabled/set up by default when you install the system?

I was playing with the system last night and "installed" the web orbiter...very nice indeed (albeit any issues it may have). It provided a nice (and more holistic) view of what LMCE can do for us in the house, versus our "regular" controlling the system via our Gyration remote control. My impression is that it could help more people get more "hooked" quicker into LMCE because it shows the different ways that you can interact with the system.

If it doesn't take serious system resources, I would recommend that it be enabled by default on 0810 instead of people having to go through the wiki HowTo to install it. Comments...?

Are you talking about/Are you aware of this?
http://micasaverde.com/

Check it out. It seems to be similar to what you're talking about and I believe the owner of that company is very involved with LinuxMCE here...I think I've seen him post around.

Any ideas?

Bummer! I was hopeful there you had...I had tried several things myself but to no avail...(I'm on the ASUS M3N78-EM)

Ideas? Sure I have a rock solid one I'm currently implementing... to wait for 0810  ;)

The topic of this thread is "Website Help Needed"...So, here's someone who's willing to help as much as my time permits...but I haven't received any response yet. How can I edit some the pages? Don't worry, I'm not planning to change the very nice look and feel or anything major like that.
You can PM me if appropriate...
Thanks,
R

Hi!
I'd like to contribute to update the website some as I've noticed some minor errors (nothing mayor, mainly some syntax errors). How can I help out with this? I did the account and login but I don't seem to be able to do much. I realize it's not a wiki (or THE wiki), but still, I'd like to help where I can. I don't have a whole lot of time, but when I'm here and see something, would like to be able to make it better.
Please let me know...
Thanks,
R

Users / Re: New Forum Layout for 810
« on: April 03, 2009, 06:47:13 pm »
While I'm all for the 0810 vs 0710 split, I agree with b4rney.
Too many sub-forums may be too much of a management issue that may unnecessarily dilute moderators time from doing other things. For example, I would not want colinjones taking time away from giving his awesome advices because he's trying to sort-out postings into correct sub-forum. And yes, when people come over, they will most likely just post to "Users". Generally, people are not so "categoristic" when posting asking questions versus when looking for stuff.

So we have two different ideas going on here in this thread. Just so we don't confuse, when people say "I agree with that"...
1) Start 0810 forums, and archive 0710.
2) Add several sub-forums.

Colin, thank you for organizing this...

And BTW: I'm assuming "full support", really means "full support", as in, it will also work with MythTV and all of its features.

Hey davegravy... if you are US based, check this out...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16880105001

They seem to still have some available... I just bought one about two months ago, so far pretty good...although sometimes LMCE just stops tracking the pointer (from the Gyration *and* from the regular USB mouse attached). Not sure what it is yet...
