Users / Re: new hybrid M/B needed

I am using Jetway JNC62K motherboards for my MD's.  They have like everything onboard!  I use them for diskless boot though, if you look in the wiki at my profile you can see them.  I had to tweak the boot thing to get the NIC to work with 0710, I don't know about 0810 but I bet they would work with it out of the box.

It skips after the MD is done booting, and doesn't stop until its been rebooted.  It's still somewhat watchable, the framerate drops to like 10fps so the jitter is obvious (audio is fine) but since I don't always want to wait 5-10min for a reboot I just tough it out.  I usually only have 1 MD at a time running, so I never noticed if the core MD was slow or not until later.

Um, whatever the release before 0810, I thought it was 0704 like that video.  When I do uname it says:
Linux dcerouter 2.6.22-14-generic

I just figured out why my core seems to randomly stop skipping.  It appears that after I turn on a diskless MD it slows down the core.  At first I thought it was just MKV files, but it seems any video will skip.  I can reset the core and then its fine!  Any ideas what to do to fix this?  I am still running 0704.

I mean things like replacing the recepticles and light switches, I've got light dimmer modules and appliance modules now, I'm looking to replace the wall jacks.  Thanks for that site, I'll check it out.

I'm still on 0710, I haven't had a reason yet to upgrade to 0810.

I'm looking to finally trick out my whole house with ZWave.  I have about 5 items on it now, I'd like to replace most outlets and light switches with ZWave modules.  I just don't know if they are all compatible, or if some people know of any with issues.  Should I just buy a bunch and presume they'll all work?  I am using a Micasaverde stick to control things now and it seems to be fine.

I guess I'd like to know of any non-working ZWave devices.

I got it to work, there was one screen where I hadn't selected the source as the "nothing" channel info I created.  Very frustrating that it didn't have a useful error message (mythtv's problem, not lmce).

Users / HDhomerun - how the heck do I use it?
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:44:07 am »
Firstly, I cannot even watch this with VLC in Windows, I tried just streaming it in VLC with the IP of the HDhomerun but that doesn't seem to work.  It just says that it cannot connect to udp@hdhr_ip:1234.  The Windows-based configure program does seem to work though and does find channels.

I plugged it into my LMCE network, and it seemed to prompt for some things but didn't seem to work.  I don't really care about schedule info but I did sign up for a schedulesdirect account, but never paid for it so it doesn't do anything of course.

I manually added the HDhomerun into LMCE, and configured schedules direct anyway (even though it doesn't work), but MythTV doesn't seem to see anything, it says that all inputs are being used.

I cannot scan for channels in LMCE, I can't use the mouse to click on the dropdowns, and nothing is shown (I presume it doesnt detect something).  Any ideas?

Users / Re: 2 of 5 cameras work? Only seems to show 4

That seems to sort of work, but the only security option I have is a new "Quad cam scenario" which I don't want.

« on: July 11, 2009, 02:09:11 am »
So I have 5 IP cameras, and for some reason LMCE only shows them as "Quad View" and only camera 2 and 4 show up.  I can't even select them from the menu.  If I remove/add them back in a different order, then 2 other cameras show up instead in spots 2 and 4.  I can browse to them manually and they work, but why LMCE puts only one "quad cam" item in my security list I don't know.  Searching the forum didn't yield anything useful, I wasn't able to find anything on the wiki either.  Anyone seen this before?

Users / Re: Power off MD at midnight? (timed events issue)
« on: May 12, 2009, 04:49:39 pm »
Well, I guess for now I am just going to use rsh or a cron job to have it shut down at midnight then.  Any easy way to wake it up or send it a "magic packet"?

I gave up and just recreated the icons from scratch.

So I had to rebuild my sdb1 drive, and now folder pictures are gone.  Most individual pictures come up on avi files though.  The .id3 files are still there, and the pictures must still be in the database, but it somehow lost the link between the two.  The drive used to be identified as something like "Raidcardname-sdb1(41)-disk" and now its "Raidcardname-sdb1(99)-disk", the only difference is the number.  Any way to fix this or do I have to link new pictures in again?  Searching the forum doesn't find quite what I am looking for.

So firstly yes of course you should replace the drive, its failing now!  Well I've had luck with a CD called "Recovery is Possible" aka RIP.  I would then boot off a Ubuntu or some other LiveCD and copy the data onto another drive right away.  Sorry I couldn't give you more info, but the second you get that drive working copy as much off ASAP and don't power off the system until its done!

Users / Power off MD at midnight? (timed events issue)
« on: April 30, 2009, 05:00:00 pm »
I'd like to have all media directors shut off at midnight if they are still powered on (except the core of course).  I got lights to shut off but for some reason the MD's don't shut down with the timed event.  I can power them off from an orbiter just fine.  Any thoughts?
