repo still not working - but wget of the .debs from http://diapub.com/~michael/repository/dists/fremantle/free/binary-armel/ and dpkg -i of the various files gets it installed and it runs. Am at work now so haven't had a chance to see if I can get past my previous stumbling block. Will try if I get a chance later.

-Coley.

I updated the Packages.gz to point to the right file locations - if someone from CHT could drop this in-place and reply here I'll try the re-install from the application manager.

sorry for waking up an old thread but had to flash the n900 ..

why is the above .deb removed?
tried going to it via webbrowser and the whole directory is gone.. What have I missed?

-Johan

as usual answering myself..

it seems to have been a temp. glitch somewhere.. debs are back again  :)

Maybe abit of a hijack here, sorry in that case but may also be of help for the threadstarter..

@ Mandingo or anyone else that knows..
regarding Freenas, you know if it should be setup as samba or cfs ?

I would like the Freenas to let lmce know when things has changed and not let lmce poll the freenas, meaning my hdd's could get to sleep until they are used. Does cfs support that function?
(mine is setup as samba)

damn.. I know I read it in the wiki just a few days ago.. have never had the same issue myself so I let it pass the memory though..

either
have a look in the web admin at advanced->configuration->unknown devices

Or devices tree and look for the disk there. Not sure if it creates a device and just disables it. If it is so then..
in the advanced view where you see the device(what you see when clicking the device in the left pane) you will see that ignore is marked.
Untick it, save and reload router. wait a few minutes and lmce should detect it again.

sorry for not being able to give exact answer but at least you have a few pointers to help maybe.(wiki, devices tree, unknown devices)

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Note: doing dist-upgrade can break some programs specially once the linuxmce is up and running. I am not expert but that is what i learned from experience. They say you only need to run it once. its up to you.

No dist upgrade after LinuxMCE has been installed.
dist upgrade will most likely destroy your system and you have to start all over again.. even say so in the installation guide.

only update and upgrade, should be enough.

Eypone, those archive errors are known(read a similar thread a few weeks back)
I had the same question as you a while back(me too also started with the beta) and yesterday I went back and checked the versions and they where indeed not the latest. Not even close... at least not compared to what can be found in the beta2 deb that you linked to.

open question:
what about those files that is located here? (they to be used or not?)
at least my sources.list _did_ not refer to those

ehm confused now.. and have to withdraw my previous statement..

basically I installed the orbiter on a new N900. And by going to the link in the wiki to CHT it installed orbiter ok.
Configured it and got the wifi error. Did the touch but it didn't help. still complaint of the wifi..

Uninstalled and made the install according to coley. Then tried the orbiter and Nothing happened when touching the start button. Uninstalled and installed the fremantle.install via file mgr.
Got the wifi error, made the touch and Voila. It worked.

hmm.. ???

Uninstalled the installer and the orbiter via app mgr. then made the dpkg -i again for the installer deb and the orbiter deb and got the same. nothing happens when clicking the start button.
uninstalled and installed the fremantle. . . again and now it is working.

Since I said it was working I have also updated the wiki with what I did to get it to work.
I will play around abit more since I have the february version of the orbiter in my other N900...
strange.. but probably user err.. would be nice/easier however if the repo gets updated with the latest (february) orbiter install though. :)

Bought the N900 and simply Love it!

Just to report that except for the wlan "issue" the install went fine and orbiter is working as with the N810.

I found this thread before trying the real way though and put some time on doing the install the hard way other than just as in the wiki for the N800 .. *dough!*

Updated N800 wiki with N900 now, including the wlan touch command so others can take the easier road.

Thanx for the good work guys!

Ok I am trying to run the setup wizard to let it choose the template for that I have created. Just to make things the way it should be.

But.. Now I am confused. How shall I treat the Projector?
It's not a Tv since it has no tuners. I have added it to the tv/projectors category though.
Hybrid is not connected directly to it.

I have tried telling in the setup wiz that it is a "tv" connected to one of the outputs on the receiver I have. But then the wizard just starts all over again asking if "this" is connected to a onkyo receiver ...
hence creating alot of duplicate devices.

How shall it be treated and what am I doing wrong(?)

johanr: I will have another look through the templatesIt's not in the templates.
web admin > Files media > Media Providers
Although since you didn't know you have probably not even touched it. :)

If you look at the DCErouter.log you can possibly trace and see why the TV is switched back. Who is initiating it. It really feels like LMCE is "misunderstanding" what you are trying to achieve.

Do a tail -f when testing and you will hopefully see something.

longshot from my side but I had similar "issue" with my receiver(if I understood your problem correctly) when listening to radio. It kept turning the lmce input on all the time after a while and I could not understand why..

Noticed(remembered) that I had configured the radio as media provider must have had a brainshortage when doing that.. but now it works just as I want.
at least something to look at :)

seem to be the only one fiddling with serial at this stage so I will answer myself:  :)

Quote
When you guys makes new similar templates. How do you know how to handle the messages that comes back?
It seems like the DCErouter.log is the file to monitor while doing this. Also the Device logfile
tail -f 64_Generic_Serial_Device.log seem to be another to keep an eye on.

I have seen complaints in the device log that 8N1 is not supported, see this complaint also in the Onkyo and since that one is working I guess it's not too relevant?

But what I cannot get my head around is this message that I get:
Code: [Select]
========== NEW LOG SECTION ==========
1 03/01/10 22:22:29 64 (spawning-device) Starting... 1
1 03/01/10 22:22:29 64 (spawning-device) Found /usr/pluto/bin/Generic_Serial_Device
05 03/01/10 22:22:30.312 Connect() failed, Error Code 111 (Connection refused)) <0xb77e38d0>
05 03/01/10 22:22:31.312 Connect() failed, Error Code 111 (Connection refused)) <0xb77e38d0>
05 03/01/10 22:22:32.312 Connect() failed, Error Code 111 (Connection refused)) <0xb77e38d0>
01 03/01/10 22:22:39.264 Paritybit/Stopbit 8N1 NOT supported. <0xb5fdfb90>

Connection refused, what can cause that?

Hi!

Yes, there seem to be so, Thanks!
However it does not answer the question why it would?

Anyways for some strange reason I have them both connected and I have had no problems like the onkyo being disabled. Guess that was sort of a onetimer, maybe because some faulty(by me) settings in the connection wizard or lack of..

I now told the lmce that the Panasonic is connected to the onkyo Output.
Cant get it working though.. but that will be posted in the other thread about the Pana..

« on: February 25, 2010, 09:46:30 pm »
Hi, annoying me again!

I am working on a new template for the Panasonic AE3000 projector and I really want to get that controlled via serial.

So I have created a template under panasonic tv:s.

Defined the basic codes(on/off) as I have understood they should be written.(it's nicely documented in the manual)

Then I have copied the commands from Onkyo template for the Internal commands, But..I feel this is not right..

When you guys makes new similar templates. How do you know how to handle the messages that comes back?
I guess the DCE will route the messages based on the usb id. But then what?  ???
Do I need to debug the device to find this out? in that case how do I do that other than just "tail -f"

Thankful for all help or guidance or tip so I can get this one working so I can share it(somehow).

Users / rs-232 conflict(?) need guidance..
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:32:31 pm »
in my current setup I am controlling a Onkyo receiver over serial from the core. I am using the aten usb to serial converter.

Now I am working on a new template for the Panasonic AE3000 projector and I really want to get that controlled via serial.
So I have created a template under panasonic tv:s.
Defined the basic codes(on/off) as I have understood they should be written.
Then I have copied the commands from Onkyo template for the internal commands.

Problem:
It seems like as soon as I connect the serial to usb adapter(same brand as the onkyo one) The core looses connection to the Onkyo and puts it into "disable" and not registered..

Even though the bus id is not the same, can it be so that there will be a conflict since they are using the same brand? not the same adapter but the brand is same..
If not, then I wonder if I have exceeded my powerlimit by using to many(only 3 though) usb devices. I just feel it is not very likely since rs-232 does not draw much current as I know..

Question:
1. based on the above explanation, can it be a conflict?
