Users / Re: USB UIRT in 0810? [Solved]
« on: August 12, 2009, 09:39:38 pm »
I just installed 8.10 a2 and am having this problem. My remotes are not working and the usbuirt is not transmitting. The light on it flashes red when I am sending a command from the remote but nothing happens. Both the usbuirt and mce remote were properly detected and are listed on the admin website. When I first did the install I was having this problem along with several others, but a reinstall fixed all of the issues except this one.

I installed 7.10 prior to this and I was still having trouble with learning however the mce remote worked as did the usbuirt, provided that I used a blaster.

Any ideas as to what could be causing my issue then? I am going to attempt the fix listed above this and I will post back if it worked.

Thanks in advance for your advice

I know this is a moot point since krys is on it ;), but for future information, it turned out that the USB_UIRT_038 executable wasn't being started from a router reload.  Starting it from the command line got the USB UIRT functioning.  As for capturing the codes, there were a few more steps involved that weren't exactly clear to me for doing so.  I haven't found clear wiki information on learning codes, so I'll add in the steps that TSCHAK guided me through.

This sound great, exactly the issue I am having. Where did you post the solution that you found for the learning and USBUIRT not functioning issues? Is the "Start_LocalDevices.sh in /usr/pluto/bin" your solution?

Thanks in advance

Installation issues / DVD sound and Remote access
« on: July 31, 2008, 04:56:29 am »
I am attempting to install and configure LinuxMCE and am having trouble with DVD sound. I have competed the install and configuration for the SPDIF integrated into the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. When I plug this into my home theater receiver which decodes DTS and dolby sound, the sound from MP3s and pretty much everything else works. The problem is that there is no sound from any DVD or DVD ripped to the HDD. If I reconfigure the OS to output sound through the analog speaker ports, it works fine and all of the sound plays. I have read in various places that there has been some difficulty with SPDIF outputs on some soundcards however the Realtek ALC882M is not mentioned anywhere. I was wondering if there is anyone else who has had similar problems and if so, what did you do to fix it? I am also pretty new to linux so I might need it broken down Barney style.

I am also having trouble with the remote access/assistance feature. I have enabled it in KDE and in the MCE environment with no luck. I have also attempted to run tightvnc server and connect using the client software on another PC with the same results. I am only concerned with connecting from inside my network for now.

Any help that someone may be able to provide would be very much appreciated!
