not sure what this answer was?

in any case - even when I load the volume buttons up (using one of the colored buttons on my microsoft remote) I can't seem to move them without using a mouse.

Users / Getting Ir-Blaster to work
« on: June 10, 2008, 10:04:57 pm »
Hi all,

I have been trying to get my Ir-blaster to work on 2 devices that I have both have failed miserably, and I have a feeling I am missing some simple yet crucial point here.

I have a JVC receiver that I have the sound connected to, all I really want is for it to change the volume (it's all I do with it today in any case.) I have tried using the codes offered by LMCE with no luck.

The other device is my cable Box. I live in Israel and the box I have at the moment is a Samsung. The remote looks very similar to the MCE remote, and I am guessing it's somewhat of a universal one - I would assume from this that it should be fairly easy to change it over to the MCE remote - but here also - no luck.

Am I missing something? Was there something I needed to install first?
I am using the Microsoft MCE remote and IR receiver (the Black one)

thanks,
-Dov

Hello All,

Since I seem to be having issues getting the IR blaster working (saving that for another topic) - I wanted to know if there was any way to control the volume on LMCE without using a Gyro remote/mouse?
I am currently using the Windows Vista (black) remote control - it works great but I have no volume control at all.

thanks,

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: feature request - Skype integration

Are there any open source alternatives that might integrate well into the phone system options in lmce?

Feature requests & roadmap / feature request - Skype integration
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:04:23 pm »
I know that skype works on Kubuntu as is - but I wanted to know if it would make sense to integrate it into the UI, as part of the phone system. The Video option in Skype alone makes it worth while, as well as the skype out that allows you to make calls to regular numbers.

This is especially good for users who have multiple MCs and multiple cameras - meaning they would potentially be able to move around the house and continue the conversation via video.

Just an idea, that surprisingly has not been brought up as far as I can see.

Radmofo - The video issue went away on it's own - not sure what I did! sorry...

Afkpuz - What card did you get? If I do It I would like to get one with an optical out so that I can connect it to my receiver and have my surround working.

ok - the video issue seems to have been resolved - but I still don't know what to do with the sound issue.

It's still turning off every few seconds (at random) for a half a sec. (or less) and keeps going.

I have no idea were to start with this..

please help.

Thanks,

Hey all,

As I work my way though my first attempt at LINUXMCE, I have come up with this interesting issues:

1. The sound work - I have a simple stereo connection, plugged into the back of my motherboard. The sound works, but every once and a while (don't know how often exactly - but enough that it is annoying) the sound "dies" for about a second. It seems random, and it does not seem related to any video I have played. Don't think it's an issue on music, but I have not checked as much.

2. Some videos that I play have been freezing the picture. The freeze lasts for about 10 seconds and then continues to play as if it had not frozen at all. Again this is random, and not related to issue number one.

I should mention that I am very much a newbee when it comes to LiunxMCE.

thanks for any help,
-Dov

Users / Re: Newtork problems (Ports and all)
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:08:22 pm »
Hello all,
I see this post was left alone for a while and I want to know if the issue was ever solved.

I have the same problem - trying to use Azureus and having NAT issues.

I have a single router going to my Core/hybrid and all the computers are in the internal Network (the core).

I tried using port forwarding, turning off the firewalls (on Both), DMZ ETC. and nothing seems to work.

If this issue was solved I would love to know how. if not, I would love to know what I can do to solve it.

Just to be clear:
My router is on  192.168.1.1 - feeding in my internet connection.
I have disabled the DHCP on the router
The core has a Static IP address from the Router
All the computers (and other hardware) get their IP address from the Core, meaning the computer has a 192.168.80.* Ip address.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The NAS is on DHCP and is in the network (Ip address is 192.168.80.*).
Now that I think of it - I think it picked it up once and then after that I was not able to find it again.

Is there any way to set it manually? or to reset it? I tried turning it off and on again but that didn't work.

thanks for the quick replies

Hello,
I am a total noobee when it comes to this and I have only been using the system for about 4 days.

I have a very simple system running at the moment, and I am using a single computer (Hybrid). I have my entire network (2 laptops, a Voip, and the NAS) on the MCE network.
The MCE was able to find my 2 laptops and find the media files, but it did not find the NAS. I can access the NAS from the laptops (using Windows).

Is there any way to use the Plug and play option here? any way to manually do it? Most of my media is on that hard-drive and I really would like to be able to use it.

thanks,
-Dov
