Users / Re: Can I still get 710?

I will be happy if there's someway to get the Fiire to work in newer versions too. Haven't used LinuxMCE for a long time now and may setup a computer soon. Then it woud be perfect to use my old Fiire. Manualy is okey...

Users / Re: New Forum Layout for 810
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:54:27 am »
I was thinking that when 810 is released, it might be nice to change up the forum a little and wanted to know if anyone else shared my opinion. It seems to me that our channels aren't very specific, which makes it harder to find info. So i would suggest something along the lines of:
1. General Discussion/ Users
2. Media
3. Lighting
4. Climate
5. Telecom
6. Security
7. Developers
8. Install issues
9. Feature Requests Roadmap
10. 710/ Archive

I think the 810 release would be the perfect time to implement this because we could start with a blank slate, put all of the current info into the archive, and then new posts going forward would be related to the new release (avoids the question of "are you talking about 710 or 810?"). I think this would help out with organization and might keep down all the repeatative questions, also it might be a little less overwhelming for new members to the forum. Plus now that we have moderators it will be much easier to move threads into their proper channel if they are started in the wrong place.
Just a thought.

I like this too. It's easier to post new questions and to find specific problems you have...
And a Off Topic too.

The one about wiki sounds intressting too.

Yeah, but i read that it's not good to have data on LinuxMCE core. It's better to have a NAS, so that's made me think on VPS...

Lmce3000:
Well, for security i don't want my data on LinuxMCE core.

Edit: Then i can create a new core if i want when LMCE 8.10 is out and after configuration just replace them...

Users / Run LinuxMCE in a VPS (Openvz) ?
« on: April 01, 2009, 07:32:49 pm »
Hi.
I wonder how i can run the LinuxMCE core as an virtual machine. I'm about to build a server (debian) for my data files (Documents, Music, Movies, Pictures....) whit logon scripts for windows clients. Then i have two servers, one data server and one LinuxMCE server. The point is that i only want one and the data server will not use so mutch cpu/memory to also have LinuxMCE core as a VPS. So, is there possible to install LinuxMCE on OpenVZ ? If it's possible, then how?

It's possible to access a DVB card from a VPS (http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&goto=35118&), COM ports and VLANs (i use them when i only have one nic).

Thanks

mami.
I shall try compiling ttxtsubs later again, but i need to patch vdr source too.

Niz23: Can you repack all vdr sources you have used in a file (tar.gz!), so shall i try to patch it for ttxtsubs and compile.

/Mami

There is a vdr-dev package in the tar.gz. Install that and you should be able to build plugins unless your plugin need to patch the original vdr sources.
Hopefully I have some time this weekend to try and build other plugins for vdr.

/niz23

Well, I need to patch original VDR source too.
