I'm now getting numerous warnings about

"could not resolve gb.old-releases.ubuntu.com"

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: easi (er) method for post reinstall ?
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:30:06 am »
Hi sambuca,
thanks for the response,

I have tried a couple of times to use backup/restore, and never had much luck,....it also seems to defeat the  reason for a fresh install, as i don't think you can be selective,

........as a complete numpty  I wouldn't think of letting my numerous blanks/slightly altered / efforts loose in  the big  wide world : Tschak et al would slap me silly ;D :D and deservedly so.

I just saw this as a very user friendly way of preserving  a half decent , easily restorable set of config files,so that I, ( ie learners) could experiment and learn , without the cost of having to re-research half understood concepts, and in my case avoid a lot of the frustration of  just physically typing it all back in,

Would it even be possible ? timing of orbiter regens/router reloads spring to mind ?

regards,
Ian

Feature requests & roadmap / easi (er) method for post reinstall ?
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:34:54 am »
Hi all

(prepares self for a slap/thwack  ;D)

after 15 straight hours of installs /setup attempts at troubleshooting then reinstalling and more device template REcreation, I was sitting shell shocked with my nth. cup of tea when an idea popped up,

..... would it be possible to save the web admin site (or parts, or separate pages) as an html doc

and then use the files after a clean install, to replace the virgin pages /site just created,

......like the spa3102 and various routers    ????

please be gentle, ;)

regards,
Ian

Hi andrew,

sorry for not being clear,

I've downloaded Roaming orb from i-tunes store, synced the i-phone, and "Web Orbiter" is showing on main screen, but there is no reference to RoamingOrb in (main screen)>settings .

i-phone is a 3g running iOS 4.02

ideas ?
many thanks for your patience
Ian

Hi andrew,
thanks for quick response ,

but my iphone is not showing roaming orb on the settings page,

btw the app is showing up as web orbiter on the main screen is this normal ?

thanks
ian

Hi everybody,

don't laugh too loud, 'cos I'm sensitive (and prolly senile ) but where the heck do i find ..

"RoamingOrb integrates into the standard "preferences" app of your iOS device. So you have to start the preferences app and search the "RoamingOrb" entry"

 on a 3G  4.02 i-phone ??????

........... i've been thro every menu option i can find , and i'm beggared if i can find where to setup server port/ip address,

Users / Re: What power supply do you use for your miniITX ION atom boards?
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:50:27 pm »
sorry,
what I meant to say was that when considering this board I looked at some  silent solutions on a car modding site, sorry can't remember the link....I dismissed idea as I wanted to setup as a hybrid and the psu wasn't man enough for a dvd and int HDD , but if it was for an MD it would be ideal

Users / Re: RS232 & Sharp Aquos not working in LinuxMCE, Only Windows
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:42:24 pm »

Hi tortho
my aquos has always been pnp, (except for dodgy serial cable & pl2303 ) so I know very little, but
from
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Sharp_Aquos_LCD

could it be that

/usr/pluto/bin/TestSerialPort -p 2 -P N81 -b 9600 -t "POWR0   \r\s500mPOWR1   \r\n" -i 1 -s "OK\r
should be 8N1   ?

Ian

Hi purps
didn't respond before as my setup is a bit of a lash up........on initially testing the board I decided to ditch the  asus fan and replaced it with a 100mm case fan + zalman fan controller and threw it into an old atx case with a 450 watt psu........not much to look at (but it's hidden anyway) but it sure is QUIET  ;D

Ian

btw can you be of any help re http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9689.0   ?

Installation issues / audio sync issue in myth
« on: February 22, 2010, 12:43:55 pm »
Hi all,
I'm running  0810b2 fully updated/upgraded...... Mythtv

asusAT3N7A-I   atom330/ion mainboard,2Gb ram as Hybrid
kworld 399u dvb-t stick (dual tuner)
Hauppauge 150 connected via s-video to a sky+(satellite) box & external channel changer
audio out via hdmi to a sharp aquos

Problem ....audio 3-400msecs out of sync in live tv/recorded tv
I can adjust this thro' myth's OSD , but of course it's not persistent after channel / input  changes

Audio is fine under lmce for audio/dvd playback (tho' I've  no control via ms remote...but I think that's another problem)

Everything is unmuted in alsamixer except for line in and mic
Myth frontend is setup as Alsa:hdmi and "enable extra buffering " is unchecked.
WebAdmin ....hda nvidia / hdmi

I've seen info on the web which touches on this being about myth trying to reconcile different sound options, but the solutions are old/conflicting , and a bit complex for a dummy like me to make sense of,( I have tried)

If anyone of you fine people could give me a hint on how to troubleshoot this, I'd be much obliged,

TIA
Ian

Hi paulo,
the only thing I can suggest  (but i know sweet FA  ;D ) is
1) remove uirt from system & reinsert in a different port.......it should be redected
2) reboot
regards,
Ian

ps : don't want to insult ,But ,are the batteries in the remote ok ?   & not rechageables, also how close to usbuirt are you ?
