How did you read that S2API can't be installed in 710?!?
It CAN!
And YES! The driver works!!!
????
that's what i said !!!
maybe my sentence was not good -> i am french and only have english level school

about s2api and lmce_8.10 , all depends of if the s2api will be included as i said( with adding the modules from externel) because i read that  the kernel 2.6.28 with S2api will only be ubuntu_9_04

bye

That means you actually know how to make S2API work in LMCE7.10RC2?!?
I don't know about it...I only say that VDR is ok with S2API.
I still don't have my future house (with autamation) and still don't use LMCE (don't have two network...)
but why couldn't be add the S2API to the LMCE 7.10 's kernel ?
from linuxtv :(what i have done in my current install)

To retrieve the v4l-dvb source tree:

hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb

How to build the v4l-dvb kernel modules
The v4l-dvb tree is backwards compatable against recent vanilla kernels. Kernel version 2.6.10 or later is required to build the dvb modules, and version 2.6.12 or later is required to build support for hybrid devices.

Change into the v4l-dvb directory:
cd v4l-dvb

Build the modules:
make

Install the modules:
make install

and then only change in the Makefile of vdr
DVBDIR=/usr/linux/
(which is using the dvb from installed kernel
to
DVBDIR=/usr/linux/v4l-dvb
(the new modules S2API)
(if you put it there of course)

bye

i still don't have my LMCE working (in the year)
but i am not agree with :
Quote
there is no support for S2API in the current Mythtv or VDR versions
VDR 1.7.x works with S2API
VDR 1.6.x just need a patch to works with S2API

hello
i am very interested in this post...
i have also chosen eib/knx (french user) for my house (building in 2009) because it is a wired protocol, i think wireless is not as sure as wired. And i am sure that KNX will be more implemented in linuxMCE in the future ( i read a post with linknx in linuxmce ?!?! )
i am also a VDR user , and i think it is very more stable than mythTV. And the VDR slave box in linuxMCE will also be included in the future ( I hope very much)
--- A question--- why is not used for VDR the VTP protocole with vdr-streamdev-server in the core and vdr-streamdec-client in each MD of the house ???
 thanks for the answer.
